chrislo Posted November 7, 2014 #1 Share Posted November 7, 2014 We plan to stop and pick up water to bring on board with us. I have read Carnival's rules and I understand we can bring 12 20oz bottles of water per person. My question is, is that in addition to the bottle of wine each adult can carry on or is it one or the other? Thank you
irishnyc Posted November 7, 2014 #2 Share Posted November 7, 2014 You can have both your wine and your 12/20 oz bottles of water/soda/juice.
chrislo Posted November 7, 2014 Author #3 Share Posted November 7, 2014 Thanks, thats great news. I thought it was one or the other and I was getting ready to order water.
getupgo Posted November 7, 2014 #4 Share Posted November 7, 2014 Do you know about the corkage fee or the screwed up fee as the case may be? Even if you open the wine in your cabin, the fee is charged.
GrummanTiger Posted November 7, 2014 #5 Share Posted November 7, 2014 They don't charge a corkage fee unless you have the MDR open your bottle of wine. If you open it yourself in your room, no charge.
RaiderCruiser Posted November 7, 2014 #6 Share Posted November 7, 2014 No fee if you drink in your room.

Even if you open the wine in your cabin, the fee is charged. Carnival doesn't automatically charge corkage.
cb at sea Posted November 8, 2014 #8 Share Posted November 8, 2014 The ship's water is fine...bring a refillable bottle! Your food, drink and ice is made from ship's water...you don't need to lug bottled water!

OCruisers Posted November 8, 2014 #10 Share Posted November 8, 2014 Keep in mind the water from the tap in your cabin is perfectly safe to drink! :) Been doing this for 53 years without a problem. :D LuLu
bury me at sea Posted November 8, 2014 #11 Share Posted November 8, 2014 No corkage fee in your cabin. Water on board is fine. Save yourself the effort.
kona_wahine Posted November 8, 2014 #12 Share Posted November 8, 2014 I drink the ship water but I also like to take a bottle off at ports, so we do take water on.
brendak Posted November 8, 2014 #13 Share Posted November 8, 2014 Carnival DOES NOT charge cork fee in your room. Take some bottled water to take off in the ports. But ship water is fine. In fact if you drink all your bottled water just fill them with ship water.
Linda the Book Lover Posted November 9, 2014 #14 Share Posted November 9, 2014 If you ask your room steward, he/she will bring wine glasses and keep your wine on ice. Ours noticed the wine right away and offered before we asked. He was great our entire short cruise. We made sure to write a great customer service letter for him. getupgo Posted November 9, 2014 #15 Share Posted November 9, 2014 Thank you. NCL charges so I assumed Carnival does. For once I have OBC for this cruise in November (thank you cruise critic) so won't bother but good to know for future.

Yep it's a heart breaker for me on NCL since I would love to bring on 2 bottles of my favorite wine. Meanwhile I suck it up and look forward to Carnival allowing me to enjoy my favorites without the corkage fee.
getupgo Posted November 9, 2014 #17 Share Posted November 9, 2014 I love this board. It's amazing what you can learn. I have $280 obc because of it on Carnival and $100 price drop on NCL.
Ti2m Posted November 9, 2014 #18 Share Posted November 9, 2014 We brought a case. Next time I'm taking one of those portable luggage trolleys. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Grits53 Posted November 9, 2014 #19 Share Posted November 9, 2014 In case you missed it, Carnival is now selling bottled water by the case of 24 onboard the ships. I think the difference in price would be justified, to avoid having to lug the water around during embarkation. We have always taken our own bottled water to have in the room, but I think we'll try theirs next time. Note: If drinking out of the glasses provided in your room bothers you, take your own plastic tumblers to use. They hardly take up any space in your suitcase, because you can stack them together and put something inside them. ;)

When we have been able to stop and get bottled water I have purchased a bottle on the ship until I could get to a store at the next port. I know the ship water is fine according to my DH and other posters but I have proved to the DH I can tell the difference in taste even with water.;)

Plus, for me the extra cost is worth me being able to lighten the load I carry on.
nychad10 Posted November 10, 2014 #22 Share Posted November 10, 2014 Any idea if you can bring on 12 cans of red bull or monster? You can have both your wine and your 12/20 oz bottles of water/soda/juice.

The accepted workaround is pouring in your cabin and bringing the glass into the MDR with you.
