Dreamer333 Posted November 27, 2014 Author #7 Share Posted November 27, 2014 Sorry, very slow internet connection. Very strange howling most of the night, bass thumping as though loud music is playing when no music is playing, balcony doors opening and closing, lights turning on their own, phone alarm going off when phone is dead, many injuries, Noro virus (although probably not spread by ghost)... just to name a few things! Been on many Princess ships and never had this many strange happenings!
Working 2 Cruise Posted November 27, 2014 #8 Share Posted November 27, 2014 I can handle almost everything but there's still Noro?
Dreamer333 Posted November 27, 2014 Author #9 Share Posted November 27, 2014 I can handle almost everything but there's still Noro? The Captain announced a high number of Noro cases on Tuesday, but yesterday he announced its down to only 4 quarantined cabins. They're doing a good job of keeping everything clean andensuring everyone is using hand sanitizer.

cruzsnooze Posted November 28, 2014 #17 Share Posted November 28, 2014 They're doing a good job of keeping everything clean andensuring everyone is using hand sanitizer. Therein lies a problem. Those hand sanitizers do nothing against a virus but people use them instead of washing with soap and water. False sense of security.
Salacia Posted November 28, 2014 #18 Share Posted November 28, 2014 Sounds like they could add an up sell charge for the Haunted Cruise Ship Experience. King Neptune and Ariel Posted November 28, 2014 #19 Share Posted November 28, 2014 (edited) Therein lies a problem. Those hand sanitizers do nothing against a virus but people use them instead of washing with soap and water. False sense of security. That is not exactly true. While a good soap and water scrub, when properly performed, is usually more effective than sanitizers alone, sanitizers are an effective supplementing addition to controlling the Norovirus. It helps keep the virus strain from multiplying. The problem is that if hands are not already soil free or if the person does not use enough sanitizer, it is not as effective, however it is still reducing germ counts. Users MUST keep hands washed with soap and water and also supplement with a good amount of santizer. Use enough sanitizer to saturate the hands completely and let it dry on its own. It is the dwell time that makes the difference. Also, the hand sanitizer must be at least 60% alcohol, preferably greater to do the work intended. cvpends Posted November 28, 2014 #20 Share Posted November 28, 2014 I stayed on the Queen Mary last weekend and some of the ghosts confided in me that they were considering jumping ship. I guess we now know where they ended up :D;)
Working 2 Cruise Posted November 28, 2014 #21 Share Posted November 28, 2014 I think we should return the thread to the OP. There's already a discussion about combating Noro. Any advice for us sailing soon?
e71465 Posted November 28, 2014 #22 Share Posted November 28, 2014 I've cruised on the Crown 4 times and each time the ship makes strange noises and booms! On the first sailing, I overheard a woman at the pursers desk asking if the ship was breaking apart because of all the noises it was making! We laughed and enjoyed our trip!
