Reserving a cab for embarkation day - feedback?

We are leaving on the Westerdam on Saturday, December 13th. We're staying at the Embassy on 17th, and will take a cab to the pier (at Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale). I wondered if anyone had reserved a cab in advance - I'm going to try to do so, but just thought I'd ask you experts for any experiences or tips you might have.

 

Packing lightly is not in our vocabulary, so I want to be sure we have a big enough taxi to take us, and we aren't interested in the hotel shuttle.

We've reserved a minivan taxi with Yellow Cab in the past.

We usually ask the front desk to call a cab for us - they know who is reliable. Let them know when you want to leave and the cab should be ready when you are.

You don't have to prearrange the cab. If you need an suv size for 3 or more, just let the desk know, and they will arrange it. Can't imagine if just two of you needing anything bigger than a sedan.;)

We stay at the Embassy Suites whenever we spend pre-cruise days in Fort Lauderdale....You don't have to pre-arrange...taxi's are usually lined up in their driveway...just exit the hotel and look left ;):)

Yes you can arrange for a car in advance.

 

Unless I needed a van I would just ask the front desk for assistance about 15 minutes before I needed the taxi. Often the taxis are there and it's easier to use one of those as the taxi you asked to come might arrive later than those that are already there.

Thanks for all the helpful responses! I was mainly wondering if it would be more efficient to order early, as the 13th is a very huge port load day. But sounds like we'll be covered and I'm sure we can squeeze into any cab as long as they'll let one of us sit up front.
