Bubba54 Posted December 21, 2014 #1 Share Posted December 21, 2014 I am looking at the Emerald Princess in February. I am looking for advise as far as parking and where to stay the night before the cruise. Thanks
JF - retired RRT Posted December 21, 2014 #2 Share Posted December 21, 2014 (edited) When in Feb? We will be there 2/1 & 2/8. The Best Western Bayport (used to be a Comfort Suites), shuttle to the port, free parking for 7 days - approx. $160 Comfort Inn Seabrook (we are staying here), free parking, $100, no shuttle but the desk clerk recommended Travel Zone shuttle @ $10 each. If you park at the port, it is $80 or $75 if you prepay. Are you driving from CA? That is what we do. Long drive, but we consider it part of the vacation. CruiserBruce Posted December 21, 2014 #3 Share Posted December 21, 2014 There is tons of specific info over on the Gulf Coast Departures board, here: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/forumdisplay.php?f=
caribill Posted December 22, 2014 #4 Share Posted December 22, 2014 Park at the port. The main lot is just feet from the terminal, but get there by around noon so you do not have to go to the overflow lot.
Times Prince Posted December 22, 2014 #5 Share Posted December 22, 2014 Definitely park at the terminal. But prepay the $75, guaranteeing a space. There are now 2 ships sailing out of Houston Bayport. We arrived at around 1 PM and they were filling the last rows, but all still within walking distance of the terminal. satxdiver Posted December 22, 2014 #11 Share Posted December 22, 2014 Park at the port purchasing your permit online in advance and arrive early. It is a level parking lot surrounded by high fencing and secure. You will be very close to the terminal and can easily walk. Only traffic you have to deal with is the incoming pax. Bayport is out in a very large open field. The Best Western (Comfort Inn) is the nearest hotel at 3 miles with nothing but open space in between. The hotel itself is in an open area so expect to drive to a restaurant, etc. Seadrift and Kemah both with hotel available are very small towns with limited resources like restaurants. Seven miles from Bayport is an area known as Clear Lake with many hotels, restaurants and shopping. All major hotel chains are in the area as this is where NASA is located. If at all possible, I would recommend looking in this area for the night before boarding. We always stay in this area as the hotel rates are competitive and restaurants abound. CharlesOK Posted December 23, 2014 #13 Share Posted December 23, 2014 Just for the record, if anyone is a Handicapped Vet in your party with a service connected disability, with proof from the VA, parking is FREE. Check their website, it will explain.

PrincessNancy Posted December 24, 2014 #16 Share Posted December 24, 2014 Thanks for the informative video Beermam42! Love the tips in the beginning. Never have sailed out of Bayport before--looks pretty easy to navigate. I didn't realize how close the parking area is to the terminal.
