On Eagle Beach there are

Amsterdam Manor Beach Resort

MVC Eagle Beach Resort

There are also some vendors who rent chaises along the beach. One of them is on the beach at La Cabana.

Arubalisa,

For the beach at MVC Eagle Beach Resort, are umbrellas available for rent. My research seems that you can only get umbrellas at La Cabana.

Is the water rocky (are water shoes needed) at MVC Eagle Beach?

Thanks in Advance.

Shade palapas are available first come first served at MVC Eagle Beach. No umbrellas rentals that I am aware of.

Water shoes are not needed. :) Plain white sandy bottom. :)

So much information:) All good but opinion wanted. We are looking for a Resort with a day pass for chairs, umbrella, drinks, meals and changing facilities, pool, and that it is clean. From what i have read so far Palm Beach might be a better match for us as we are just looking to relax and enjoy as we are arriving on Celebrity Eclipse and have been to Aruba before. Major water sports not a must have. Advise??

Probably the Occidental would be the best.

Aruba

Occidental Grand Aruba

What You Get for Your Money: Passes, which are $78 for adults and about $39 for children, offer access to amenities including non-motorized watersports, meals, snack and drinks, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. The price does not, however, include use of a room.

How to Get There: Occidental Grand Aruba is a 15-minute taxi ride from port.

Renaissance Aruba Resort & Casino

What You Get for Your Money: The day passes offered at this Aruba resort include transportation to the resort's private island, as well as lunch, a drink and dessert. Beach towels are provided and one hour of kayaking, snorkeling or paddle boating is included. The cost is $99 per adult and does not include use of a room. Children under 12 can visit the island for free, but food and other amenities are extra.

How to Get There: This resort is just one-quarter of a mile from the cruise port, and it's walkable.

What kind of weather, water temp etc can we expect Christmas week? Thx!

December weather

Average high temperature 87 F.

Average low temperature 76 F.

Average temperature 80 F.

Average water temperature 81 F.

Average windspeed 15 mph

Average maximum wind speed 31 mph

Average rainfall 2.59 inches (16.1 inches annual)

Chance of an overnight or early morning shower, other than that slight chance of a cloud with some rain passing overhead, here and gone in 5 minutes. As of now, Aruba has had no significant rain since early March.

Arubalisa, thanks a lot for such comprehensive and detailed information. What do they charge for umbrellas and chairs at Boca Catalina, Catalina Cove, Malmok or Arashi Beach? Are there any natural shade at any of these beaches?

Are there places in town by port that you can rent snorkel gear for the day if you don't bring your own? I heard that the lighthouse isn't to far when at Malmok Beach, can you see it so one could get a general idea of where to walk to, to see it when there?

Thanks to Arubalisa and everyone else for the information. We were in Aruba last week, and went to Reflextions/ Nikky Beach.

It was great for what we wanted, a nice beach near the ship, which wasn't too expensive. It was a 10 minute drive and cost $10 (I wouldn't try and walk it, it looked much too far).

The people at Reflextions are really nice, and it was $20 for 2 sunbeds, with cushions, and a sun shade, and that includes use of their pool, restrooms and free wi-fi.

It's not the most beautiful beach, but the water is great to swim in, very safe and not rocky underfoot. The airport is close by, so expect some aircraft noise.

We have walked it, but a person must be fit (no heart problems, physical ailments, etc.) to do so in the heat. We did not walk back to the port, though. After lounging in the sun all day, walking back to the ship was out of the question.

My sister and I will be in Aruba in mid-November this year with Jewel OTS. We've discussed day passes at an AI, but I know it'd be just as easy to do a pay as you go day. What I don't know is how busy to expect the resorts to be at that time. The information on the cruise timetable site says we'll be the only ship in port, but I know from past experience that they're wrong quite often. And I'm guessing that Nov 12th (I think that's the date) is not prime vacation time anywhere. Can anyone provide info on how busy Aruba is that time of year please?

The only real advantage of an all inclusive pass at the Occidental is convenience and being able to use their swimming pool.

The pass to Renaissance Island will not get you use of their swimming pools.

I know for a fact that paying as you go will work out cheaper unless you drink a LOT. ;)

As to how busy it will be, cruise season starts to pick up in the Caribbean about mid-October. Aruba itself is fairly busy during that time of year up to about a week after Thanksgiving. December is quiet up to about December 20, then it is smack dab into the high season.

Who offers this as we are not drinkers, but we know the island well in the winter and getting a cot is near in possible in high season.

Question is you pay this money and are you certain of getting a cot somewhere or are you just at the luck of the 6am risers in Aruba.

I have never heard of any resorts running out of chaise lounges. It is the shade palapas that go quickly and early. Shade is never guaranteed anywhere.

On Palm Beach there are vendors who rent umbrellas and chaises to cruise passengers. Doing that is much cheaper than an all inclusive pass.

Don't expect shade if you go to Occidental. The resort guests get up before dawn and claim the palapas. You might be able to sit under a palm tree if you are lucky. You'll have a lounge chair, but probably not any shade. If shade is a must, you are better off going to one of the vendors along Palm Beach that rents chairs and umbrellas. This will also save you a lot of money. As I stated before, Occidental has been sold, so check with them beforehand to make sure that they are still issuing day passes.

Where is the Palm Beach from our ship? I really want to shop around a bit then check out the beach.

Palm Beach is about a 15 minute taxi ride from the ship, longer if you take the bus because it makes many stops. There are lots of shops along Palm Beach, but some of the vendors only open at night. However, there are quite a few open during the day. You can shop downtown or in Palm Beach, if you prefer. There are plenty of places there to get something to eat and drink.

We will be there mid-Sept with our 3 year old. What do you think would be best with her, Reflexions or bus to one of the beaches? I haven't decided which beach, Eagle Beach, maybe? We are in port 1-10, so I would figure at a minimum we would need a snack at some point and would prefer restrooms nearby.

Thanks in advance.
