From our Jan. 25-Feb. 20, 2015, Amazon River-Caribbean combo sailing over 26 days that started in Barbados, here is the link below to that live/blog. Aruba's Eagle Beach gets high marks as the top beach on this island. Some even mention it as one of the best in the world. We can understand why. It is about six miles long with amazing sand. Busy, but not too crowded. We came back later in the afternoon via a cab to enjoy its fun, people, sights, activities, etc. At one end of the beach, however, are lots of high-riise hotels/housing. Personally, we prefer more of the low-rise, less-busy settings. The varied shades of the blue waters were so great. We had a fun part of the afternoon to be here. BUT, it was hot this day with a very intense sun. Did we enjoy? See the picture proof!:

We're considering Moomba beach for our stop there in November. I want a beach that's pretty, we can take the bus to, rent chairs and and umbrella ($45 I've seen mentioned seems really steep compared to all the other islands I've been and they're $10), and waiters that come around for drink orders or the beach bar is right there. Would Moomba be best for that?

Hey

 

We are going on the Valor in October and will be in port on a Tuesday from 1 till 11. This is the island that I had really hoped to check another item off my bucket list: Jet ski. My husband wants some shade on a beach to read. I am concerned since we get into port so late that we wont find chairs/umbrellas. Which would be better in your expert opinions, Palm or Eagle. What time will all the companies close up for the day? One last question, what do you do around in the evenings?

Since you are arriving in Aruba in the afternoon, your best chance of getting shade and chairs will be in Palm Beach. There are jet ski rentals in both Palm Beach and Eagle Beach. I don't know what time they finish for the day, but I see them running up and down the beach all day when we are there. I imagine that they go until 5:00 or so. Since you are in port for so long, I would head back to the ship and freshen up and then go out to dinner. There are great restaurants downtown, and also in Eagle and Palm beaches. You can search this board and find some great suggestions. Many people enjoy dining at Passions or Barefoot, which both offer dining on the beach. There are casinos open downtown, one in Eagle Beach, and many in Palm Beach. Palm Beach is where the action is at night, with bars, restaurants, casinos, and tons of shopping. All of this is easy to get to via taxi, most of it by bus (but not Barefoot).

No!! Don't even try it! I stay in Eagle Beach and watch cruisers get ejected from chairs at the resorts every day. Arubalisa listed the places that rent chairs and umbrellas in the first post of this thread . Those are the places to go to. Eagle Beach is building a few new buildings on the beach that will have bathrooms and also have a snack bar. Hopefully, the chairs vendors will move there also. Right now, they are not open, and probably won't be for months to come.

Our plan is to do the Trikes Aruba in the am and find a beach with chairs - umbrellas to rent for the afternoon, that will have a place close to get food and drinks for 2-3 hours. It looks like Palm or Eagle beach would be the best options. Anybody have a better place or choice?

I looked up this excursion online. Perhaps they meant Arashi Beach?? I've never heard of a beach called Aruba Beach. Usually, most tours end with a trip to Palm Beach or Eagle Beach, close to where the chair vendors are. Aruba Beach Club is a small, private resort. I'm sure that they are not taking you there. They only allow their resort guests to use their facilities. Arashi Beach is very nice, but fairly small. They rent chairs there and have a limited number of palaplas available. Those usually go early in the mornings. Arashi is one of my favorite beaches.

This was post #193 - It does not seem there was any response to it. We will be in Aruba in late August 2017 via the Vista. Port time is 1:30PM - 10:30PM. We will be traveling with some small children and I recall that the beach in front of the Hilton and Marriott Ocean Club on Palm beach had a very sharp dip to get into the water. I actually had some difficulty getting in and out of the water. This was in early 2015.

I am therefore concerned to take the kids there. Besides answering the above questions about Reflexions, can someone comment on the water access on Palm Beach?

When the wind blew it made the sand fly and it felt like you were getting stung my kids were screaming their heads off..

Yes, I guess it is a two -edged sword so to speak. The tradewinds make the heat and sun bearable - but if they really pick up, it can be very unpleasant. I guess we have been lucky - we have vacationed in Aruba a number of times without incident regarding the sand. But, since we have only the afternoon for the beach, I want to pick the right one for the kids.

Here's your answers. We were just there 2-3 weeks ago and it was great and relaxing. Only bad thing is that around noon, power on the island went out so no blender for smoothie type drinks. It is very relaxing there and not a big crowd.

When you get there, do you just cut through the restaurant to access the beach? Just go to the right side of the building thru the side parking lot.

Is there a food/drink minimum to use beach? No minimum, no pressure.

Is it easy to get taxi when leaving the beach (are they lined up outside or do you have to have someone call one for you)? I just had the bar people call and taxi was there in about 5 minutes.
