SusieS Posted January 8, 2015 #1 Share Posted January 8, 2015 Hi- I was offered an upsell from an interior, to one of the suites on the Grand next to the casino. Are these suites as smoky as I think they'd be? Could any non-smoker who has staying in one of these suites please advise? Thanks so much! Would love to stay in a a suite, but would not want the experience to be ruined by a smoky room!
CruisingJs Posted January 8, 2015 #2 Share Posted January 8, 2015 I haven't stayed in a window suite on the Grand so I can't speak to the smoke issue. We have stayed in a window suite in the Golden and have another one booked for our next cruise. I just wanted to say these cabins are awesome! There is so much space and storage and we love the location. I hope it works out for you.

Both ends of the short hallway with the window suites have doors on them that were closed. You will get spoiled if you decide to go with the suite - enjoy Sabatinis (and the other suite perks)! smslms Posted January 8, 2015 #4 Share Posted January 8, 2015 Grab it! These suites are a great deal, no smoke, no noise and all the benefits that come with any suite. Only drawback is no balcony, but on lots of cruises a balcony isn't all that big a deal.

If you search window suites there is tons of info on them.;) http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1723467&highlight=window+suites http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1595494&highlight=window+suites Edited January 8, 2015 by Colo Cruiser
DougH Posted January 8, 2015 #6 Share Posted January 8, 2015 I had friends that sailed in one of those recently and they loved it.
avalon1025 Posted January 8, 2015 #7 Share Posted January 8, 2015 I had the second window suite from the bow on the Grand and loved the cabin but was woken up the first night by the smell of smoke from the casino. Asked the front desk and they closed the forward door to the hall that accesses those cabin and it cleared up the smoke. If you have a smoky casino and those doors are propped open, you will get smoke in the suites nearest to those doors
Go-Bucks! Posted January 8, 2015 #8 Share Posted January 8, 2015 We had a Window suite on the Caribbean and it was wonderful! But luckily the casino wasn't near these suites - it was one deck above. There was a cigar bar down at the end of the hall (forward), but with the doors to our little hall shut all the time, there was no smoke smell. What a fantastic upsell this would be from an inside cabin!! Enjoy. :D
pompeii Posted January 8, 2015 #9 Share Posted January 8, 2015 We also had one of the window suites on the CB and there was no smoke or smoke smell at all. However, if you didn't call back on your upsell offer immediately, it might already be sold out. There are only a few suites and people pounce on upsell offers right away. I'm not sure how many people they call compared to how many rooms there are, but I'd imagine they call at least a few extra.
IECalCruiser Posted January 9, 2015 #10 Share Posted January 9, 2015 We have been in window suites on the Golden (F307 & F315) and the Grand (F311). I am sensitive to smoke and there was no issue on either ship. There is some smoke that comes into the forward portion of the corridor but that is because they don't close the doors to the cigar bar :( :(. There may be a problem in F301 or F303 but any cabin farther aft should be just fine. Sent from my iPad using Forums mobile app
