Great blog for Tonga John! You sure remember a lot more than me and I am

glad so now I have a more complete picture!:)

Wednesday, 25 Feb

That was a such a good night's sleep that I woke up at 7:15! Had to get to

breakfast. Overnight the most recent copy of our onboard account had been

placed in our mail slot outside the cabin. So after a quick review, I would

need to visit the Purser's Desk to zero it out because of my visit to the

Medical Centre (Medical Centre visits are not eligible to be taken from your

OBC).

After reviewing the DP, DH and I roughly planned out the day. Since he is

feeling much better, he set off to do the sporting things while I wanted

to finish one of the current books I have. I sat in Cafe Carinthia for about

an hour and a half reading and enjoying a cappuccino before changing venues.

I felt like I needed some fresh air and found a nice spot on a lounger on the

port side Promenade Deck where I spent another hour reading.

The day was nice at about 23C, relative calm beautiful blue seas, and sunny

sky with a nice breeze to round it all out. I headed to the Theatre where

the Port Presentation on Sydney was finishing up and the lecture by Jim Webster

on "The Munich Massacre" was to begin in about 15 minutes. I waited until the

crowd left and found myself a seat. While waiting I chatted a few minutes

with several CC members who were also here for the lecture. When I saw the

title of this lecture, I could not recall exactly what the event was, but once

Mr. Webster began his talk, I remembered. I pondered the date that it happened

and tried to recall where I was at the time, and events that were happening

in my little world. It is interesting when stuff like that happens in life...

After the lecture, I went to claim my DH at the end of his table tennis match

and it was off to lunch. Then we decided to enjoy the fresh air a bit more

and went back to the relaxing lounge chairs on the Promenade, where he nodded

off and I finished my book. I returned the book to the Library and we dropped

off my bag at our cabin. We reassessed the afternoon activities, and he was

in for as bit of croquet while I work on the blog and go through the papers

I have collected since the beginning of the cruise, like DP, receipts, brochures,

maps from ports, etc. I wanted to get them organized so I can put what I decide

to keep in the inside zipped up portion of one of our suitcases to get them

out of the way. I am a bit of a hoarder when it comes to these things because

you never know when you will need to refer to them in the future. I do find

that I look back at them a couple of times throughout a year and besides being

a physical memento of our trip, whenever I look through them I am reminded of

things sometimes that I had forgotten. Plus, going through them at this time

allows me to weed out any unwanted things, and sometimes it reminds me of

something I want or need to do.

Tonight is a formal night so will have to decide on which dress to wear and

all that entails. Just what we needed.. a nice relaxing dinner. Night all.

Hi Pat

I have just warned Aldyth and Gordon about your imminent arrival ;) - and we are looking forward to you coming home to QE again !

Tonga was very interesting and we have just been told at an interview with the Captain that there will be special ceremonies for Anzac Veterans in both Auckland and Sydney, with services on board, for invited guests and a special 100 sign on which poppies will be placed in both places, and then transported on the ship and used at the dawn ceremony on the 100th anniversary of the landings when we arrive in Gallipoli.

It could be busy on board tomorrow ?

It is very good of Cunard to do all this, the ceremonies will be very moving as well.

Hello Everyone,

I joined C.c. A few days ago and have enjoyed reading the stories and reviews so much.

I feel like I know you, all, already. So many useful pieces of information and I appreciate how time consuming writing all of this is. So "Thank you".

We are joining Queen Elizabeth in Sydney for the sector to Hong kong. After seeing Her in Sydney last year we decided it would be a lovely way to celebrate our 45th. Wedding anniversary. We live in the Snowy Mountains of N.S.W. And I have been very busy picking apples and peaches from the trees in our garden and distributing them to family and neighbours, not to mention how many we are eating, delicious, I have to say. But I won't want peach cobbler on the "Queen"

Looking forward to meeting you on Tuesday next week. Enjoy your journey.

Kind regards, Chris and Garry.

Dear Chris and Gary

Welcome to the roll call and look forward to meeting up with you on board. Are you planning on coming to the Meet and Greet on Thursday? Great way to meet people. I am boarding in Sydney also to go back to Southampton. I am visiting family at the moment here in Aussie.

Hi DreamflightPat,

I am not sure of the procedure for C.c members, but if it's an invitation, we will be there.

Thanks.

Hi Chris & Gary, yes all invited. Barbara has been organising them and she is on board at the moment. No doubt she will come back to you and confirm when she has time and the internet. I think it is scheduled for 13.15 in the Yacht Club, that was the plan, but may have changed whilst she is on board. My cabin number is 6017 if you want to call me.

Thanks MicCanberra, we are two hours south of Canberra. We do come to Canberra often, so would be interested.

Check out the Canberra Meet up thread - http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=2146863 There will most likely be meetings every month.

Welcome to CC Chris and Garry! Yes, we have a M&G scheduled for 5 Mar, the first sea day after Sydney but the time and place was rescheduled by Cunard. It is at the Yacht Club on Deck 10 from

12-1. Hope to see you there!

Pat, it will be great to see you very soon!

Thursday, 26 Feb

After an uneventful but relaxing breakfast I decided that today would be

another laundry day for me. Got to the laundrette at 7:15 to wait for it

to open at 7:30. Good choice as I was first in. By 9:30 laundry was done.

Read my book on Deck 3 Midships Bar area for awhile with periods of people

watching. Even though I slept fairly good last night I could barely keep my

eyes open so I went to take a nap. I am glad I went and got meds the other

day at the beginning of feeling sick, because I think I am doing pretty good.

Woke up and it was time for lunch in the Lido. The selection in the Lido has

been pretty good most days and today was the same. We were able to eat, talk,

and have a nice time for awhile before most get here.

Walked around the ship for a bit to see what was happening and get a little

exercise in. It was a bit chilly outside at 21C compared to what we have had,

and it was windy to boot. It made sitting outside to read almost impossible,

read in the cabin while doing a few domestic duties.

We kept tossing up whether to eat dinner in the Lido or the DR and finally

decided to go to the DR tonight. It was informal so that was easy. DH wanted

to try the Peking Duck but ended up ordering something else because he likes

meat well done and this was quite pink. We both ended up with the pasta which

was okay. We did not want to stay for dessert or tea tonight and left and were

back at the cabin by 7. That was very quick, even for us.

Felt like checking the TV before bed and I was pleasantly surprised to see one

of my favorite movies on...Sense and Sensibility. Watched that and fell

asleep. Until tomorrow.

Well ... we seemed to be on a different tour !

Awful dirty old van ... Abso no springs at all. Our driver was a very pleasant Tongan man BUT hello ... we didn't hear a thing because he had no mic and although he did his best I wouldn't recommend this tour at all.

After the 56th church I lost the will to live.

Nice place for the lunch stop and beautiful views.

I think what I have posted is a fair review.

here ya go....only took 4 hours and the reverse is full too, Ill take another when I go down tonight to see her off.

The dock was full of ex and current servicemen this morning...never seen so much silver on so many chests, I understand that there was a ceremony onboard and they were entertained to a meal and a tour.

the very least we could do for them!
