SASSYMI2 Posted February 8, 2015 #1 Share Posted February 8, 2015 I am kind of new on spotify. Have many good playlists saved and am on a 90 day free trial of spotify premium. Does anyone familar with this music app know if my saved playlists could be enjoyed onboard without using wireless data (pricey).
CruiserBruce Posted February 8, 2015 #2 Share Posted February 8, 2015 Not if it involves getting your music from the Web or the cloud. If it is stored on your device you are safe. But I don't think it is if you're using Spotify.

Rare POA1 Posted February 8, 2015 #6 Share Posted February 8, 2015 (edited) No. You can't stream without a connection. Spotify is a streaming audio service. It needs a connection and a reasonably fast Internet speed, to stream music. Edited February 8, 2015 by POA1

"Smart phone" OP needs to just download his music (play list) at home prior boarding the ship.
LocoLoco1 Posted February 8, 2015 #9 Share Posted February 8, 2015 SASSYM12 With Spotify Premium and IPhone 5.0 or later you have the OFF-LINE feature. First, get your playlists sync'd to your device while you're still On-line, then toggle your Icon to OFF-LINE while out to sea. You won't be 'streaming' them, but you'll have the Playlists. Spotify has a great tutorial on their Web-page about Off-line usage. Locomotiveman Tom
