heidik Posted February 13, 2015 #1 Share Posted February 13, 2015 I thought I saw a thread on this, but can't find it now......I know that the scale in the bathroom in your stateroom is not accurate when the ship is moving - but did I read somewhere that it is also usually off by 5lbs (5lbs over)? Or was this subconscious wishful thinking on my part......I don't want to go to the gym to use the scale there, just wondering if anyone knows here if the bathroom scale can be relied on to show a true weight?:(

sptrout Posted February 13, 2015 #5 Share Posted February 13, 2015 Not a chance. If there were scales in the cabins, there would be a bunch more sky divers than accidently happens now.
flames9 Posted February 13, 2015 #6 Share Posted February 13, 2015 Some people with health problems, such as CHF may require a scale. I bet one can ask for one in ur cabin....
Jane2357 Posted February 13, 2015 #7 Share Posted February 13, 2015 We had a bathroom scale in our S1. It seemed very accurate the 1st day and then after that - I think it was broken because the needle started to climb higher and higher as the days went past.
heidik Posted February 13, 2015 Author #8 Share Posted February 13, 2015 Yes, there is a scale in the S1 I am in......
Rob the Cruiser Posted February 13, 2015 #9 Share Posted February 13, 2015 Weigh yourself at home then weigh yourself on the scale in the cabin. Add or subtract the difference and use that as your point of reference.

Yes, I did not think to do this until like Day 4 of this cruise.......by that time the scale was showing a weight gain of 10lbs!!! What??? I didn't even have a belgian waffle yet! So I decided to just track my weight by how my stateroom scale changes as I don't have anything to calibrate it (like a 5lb bag of flour or similar). I am hoping the scale is "over" and that when I return home to my usual scale, I will be pleasantly surprised.... Edited February 13, 2015 by heidik
phillygirl2400 Posted February 13, 2015 #11 Share Posted February 13, 2015 It would really hamper my enjoyment if there was a scale staring at me every time in entered my cabin. ehfl Posted February 13, 2015 #12 Share Posted February 13, 2015 There might be an accurate one at the medical center.
Wine-O Posted February 13, 2015 #13 Share Posted February 13, 2015 We had one in our S2, but there wasn't one in our S1. There should be one up in the gym area, I would suspect.
Dave.ca Posted February 13, 2015 #14 Share Posted February 13, 2015 A scale in a cruise ship cabin would be like a clock in a casino...
SupremeFlounder Posted February 13, 2015 #15 Share Posted February 13, 2015 There's one in Sky Suite 6132 (S1) on Constellation. I noticed it in Trickie Dickie's video tour. You won't find me anywhere near it (I'm guessing I can get the stateroom attendant to remove it when they are emptying out the minibar fridge :D ) http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=2165177 And here's the link to the video. It's pretty early on.
travlr21 Posted February 14, 2015 #16 Share Posted February 14, 2015 We've had scales in A1 cabins on the Constellation. Fun to weigh yourself while at sea, all over the map, so you just chose a number you like.
Rare hcat Posted February 14, 2015 #17 Share Posted February 14, 2015 Also had one in A1 Connie...never had one on other ships... did not use it...prefer to weigh at home before and after cruises!
miched Posted February 14, 2015 #18 Share Posted February 14, 2015 There is one in the gym that we have used. Best is when the ship is in port as it isn't accurare when the ship is rocking or moving. Happy cruising 🌊🚢🇺🇸🌞
britestar Posted February 14, 2015 #19 Share Posted February 14, 2015 We also had a scale in our bathroom, we just put it in the closet and never gave it another thought.;)
Wickets Posted February 14, 2015 #20 Share Posted February 14, 2015 We had one in the penthouse on the Summit in December. Did seem to start reading much higher as the cruise went along. We kidded it was part of the cost containment program, but it was correct. Easier to use than our luggage scale.
drarill Posted February 14, 2015 #21 Share Posted February 14, 2015 We had scales in two Royals and one Celebrity suite....that's a perk Celebrity can take away and I won't complain, I promise. :D
navybankerteacher Posted February 14, 2015 #22 Share Posted February 14, 2015 What possible reason could there be for a) wanting a scale in you cabin's bathroom, b) actually wanting to use it, and c) thinking that it might be properly calibrated and unaffected by ship's movement? TheMediaman Posted February 14, 2015 #23 Share Posted February 14, 2015 I would like to have been in the meeting where somebody said "Hey. Here's a good idea. Let's put scales in the bathrooms."
