First off, you were scheduled to depart at 10:00 PM. At that time there was a ship already past the sea buoy coming into port. As of 10:40 that ship is still maneuvering in the channel. Secondly, you disembark and I 100% doubt you will get any refund whatsoever. If you feel you are owed something go to guest services and take it up there, but other than the casino not being open yet not sure what else isn't running and why you want to get off the ship or feel you are owed something? If the ship is still in port in the morning, that's a different story.
Spurschick Posted March 20, 2015 #3 Share Posted March 20, 2015 (edited) Below is the link to the Liberty of the Seas Roll Call for March 19 sailing.http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?p=45988600#post45988600 Thanks to "MAJAROSH" for providing detailed information on what is known so far. Why would they get a refund? At this stage It is a delayed sailing. Now if the problem is so big that they can't fix the problem, that's different. But at the moment they are 20 minutes delayed from scheduled departure of what I understand was 10:20. If any changes to itinerary then they will probably get OBC. Ps hope they sail soon. At this stage to say they want off (and it's not like there are an abundance of people that want off at this stage) is a little rash. They are on the ship with food, accomodation and entertainment provided. With the exception of casino and shops they have access to everything they would have at sea! There are still too many variables in play to say what impact the delay will have, if any. Hopefully Bob will come and give an update. ehfl Posted March 20, 2015 #4 Share Posted March 20, 2015 While they may be able to disembark if the ship is not leaving soon, and they can carry off all their luggage, they should definitely not expect a refund.

Desertbelle Posted March 20, 2015 #7 Share Posted March 20, 2015 People sure get do get rattled quickly on the first day of their vacations. Wow, I would love to be on that ship right now, no matter how late she gets out of port. I can imagine sitting on my balcony watching the port lights and breathing a sigh of relief that I got there in time and without a problem, and how much fun I am going to have over the next week. :D
KellyBeseGuess Posted March 20, 2015 #8 Share Posted March 20, 2015 Oh for god sakes. People should be happy to be on vacation.
Rare NorbertsNiece Posted March 20, 2015 #9 Share Posted March 20, 2015 There were people escorted off Adventure on my TA.... too drunk to attend / refused to go to muster.... I seriously doubt anyone would disembark with the knowledge they would lose their fare..... no way will they get a refund.... if they were escorted off my guess is their behaviour and attitude had a lot to do with it...... Tunkhannock Posted March 20, 2015 #10 Share Posted March 20, 2015 Oh for god sakes. People should be happy to be on vacation. Some people just like to complain, and they're not happy unless they're unhappy!
stewpapa Posted March 20, 2015 #11 Share Posted March 20, 2015 On every cruise I've been on there are people griping about everything under the sun. I don't know why they cruise. I love every minute of it and don't sweat the small..... Or large stuff. It's a great vacation even with a delay or missed port or stinky hallway or missing mints on my pillow. Aquahound Posted March 20, 2015 #13 Share Posted March 20, 2015 Oh for god sakes. That was exactly my reaction when I saw this. In fact, I had to read the thread just to confirm this really was over something so stupid.

Rare LMaxwell Posted March 20, 2015 #15 Share Posted March 20, 2015 Does anyone know the actual reason why Liberty wasn't scheduled to leave until ~10pm? They had divers doing maintenance all day. Could have been for any sort of underwater maintenance; stabilizers, propulsion, raw water intakes, etc.

DirtyDawg Posted March 20, 2015 #17 Share Posted March 20, 2015 Just goes to show you, don't keep the gamblers away from their tables.:p Or did those people want off because some of the other passengers wore shorts in the MDR?;)
njm5378 Posted March 20, 2015 #18 Share Posted March 20, 2015 This ranks in my top 10 most ridiculous things on cruise critic. Beside gambling or the opportunity to buy expensive Michael Kors handbags what exactly were these people deprived of? Maybe I'm in the wrong questioning it. I say full refunds and free future sailings for all cruises leaving on March 32nd for all passengers.
MADflyer Posted March 20, 2015 #19 Share Posted March 20, 2015 If you look at their roll call thread a passenger has come in and informed the 'complainers' that the Captain very clearly stated at the muster drill that they would be departing late, due to divers taking care of some maintenance. He stated that it was important this was done correctly and they would depart when the work was completed. The poster also states that there were 2 additional public announcements about the delay and expected sailing time prior to 10 PM. It seems that selective listening is often the case when these sort of threads pop up here on CC. I understand missing a PA announcement in general, but when it is a part of the muster safety drill, I might expect the majority to listen. Just like nobody listens to the airplane safety instructions. Now if the Captain made the announcements in every bar he would get somewhere.:D

Goodtime Cruizin Posted March 20, 2015 #23 Share Posted March 20, 2015 I post this with personal experience. Just be patient, sit tight and watch it unfold. And I'll throw in, don't worry and enjoy the ship as best you can. I was on the Navigator in March of last year. We could not sail due to an oil spill and by Monday during dinner, the Capt announced the sailing was cancelled and everyone would be getting a 100% refund, in addition, a 25% discount on a future cruise. Further he stated that everyone could stay on the ship if they so desired to enjoy all the ship could offer. Although there was no Casino. By Wed morning, 1/3 of the ship's passengers had left. And then the Coast Guard released the ship to sail so the Capt announced the ship was sailing to Cozumel, basically, 3 sea days and 1 port day and the 100% refund was still in play, plus the 25% off a future cruise. Keep in mind this was not even a Royal issue/problem but rather the Coast Guard shut down the port. I think you're in good hands. Sit tight. The funniest thing to me is reading reviews on the same ship/same time/doing the same thing. One will say it was the worst cruise ever, never again on that cruise line, other cruise line was much better. And the other will give 5 stars and say they had the time of their lives. Having said that, I'm sailing on the Liberty in a month so they better have their stuff together or I'm never sailing RCCL again. <grin> Edited March 20, 2015 by WEGL81
