How hard is it to clear the "Waitlist" for a change of dining time.

We are under 30 days for sailing and decided to change from Anytime Dining to Traditional, which we did a couple weeks ago. We have experience with both dinner choices and booked with ATD. Since our lifestyle has changed a lot and we have been eating late at home we decided to request a change to Late Traditional.

Our wait list number was 16, a few days later it was 20 and now it is 23. Does anyone know what that is all about? We will check with the dining room once we are on board if it does not show up as changed in our personalizer.

Either way...........we are still on a ship, floating on the sea, on a planet floating in space!

Your chances are excellent, though it might be the 2nd night. We've never not been moved to what we asked for.

Those wait list numbers never make sense. Once we went from over 100 to under 10 overnight.

d guess the number of people who sign up initially for traditional dinning is high but when you actually get onboard, they never show actually use it. That's is why wait times are so long at anytime dinning rooms.

The wait list may be because of the late traditional request. Because early traditional is the more popular of the two seatings, Princess will use part of an anytime MDR for additional early traditional seating and change to anytime dining after a certain time.

Late traditional is only in the MDR designated for traditional seatings.

We have been wait listed only once for MDR and it was several years ago.We now prefer AD. Our initial wait list number was 180 ( about 4 mos before cruise) we enjoyed checking our personalizer every day to see if it had moved. I know we checked very close to boarding ( may have been a few days prior) and we were #5. We were disappointed that we would not get our preferred dining time. Not long after boarding we actually received a call in our cabin to let us know they had added another large table in the dining room. We were thrilled. I have to say that we had the best table mates ever. The table for 10 was made up completely of wait listed diners! Don't give up .

As noted, if you don't clear the waitlist just see the MD on embarkation day at the time/place listed in the Patter. Usually in one of the DR's between 2p-3:30p. He can make it happen. ;)

We were number 3 by the time we left for the airport (waitlisted for Early Dining). ATD on our card when we boarded. Check in lady said find the MD and tell him anything ie: you take meds and he will switch you. Knowing from these boards that we should see the Maitre'D right away we asked crew members which dining room to go to.

Many answers to the question! - tomorrow he will be in the dining room at 3:30. he is busy today. - You cannot do that - go ask at the buffet

Perseverance paid off and we found the line up just before he started at 1:30. We were #6 in line - a crew member gave us a # and we sat and waited. We listened to all the explaining of the people ahead of us and to the MD just taking names, room numbers and requests and saying they would get what they wanted. We did not give an excuse - asked, he said sure, use ATD tonight and in the AM when he has had his cappuccino he will attend to his list and send confirmation. Under 30 seconds from start to finish once our number was called.

Next afternoon, as we headed out to Bingo, the envelope with confirmation was at our door.

You won't be let down.

Yes, no secret that it is in the Patter.

The secret is where it is in the Patter.

On our most recent cruise it was on the back page in the box that said "Dining Guide and it was in type that was just 2mm high.

On the cruise before that, it was on page 2 in the list of that afternoon's activities. It was between "Lotus Spa Tours" (Experience a tour of our wonderful spa facilities) and "Bon Jovi: Live in Chicago" on MUTS.
