Rare kazu Posted May 6, 2015 Author #1551 Share Posted May 6, 2015 (edited) I think I forgot to mention our Yum Yum man's name was Roni. His memory was incredible. Asked you for your name the first night and you were greeted by name every night. He quickly learned and remembered what we preferred and offered that first. He was so incredible we couldn't help but tip him. We were on fixed seating so upper dining room. Now, for the good news. DH has finally passed me his memory card, so if people are still reading, I should have time to load the pics tomorrow and on that card is the pic of our captain getting his plaque :) and some other good ones. Interested? Edited May 6, 2015 by kazu

Rare kazu Posted May 6, 2015 Author #1556 Share Posted May 6, 2015 I am still downloading pics, but here are a few to get things going..... Beautiful Nicaragua Food porn? not sure - this is the food market and yes, these are iguanas that are sold for food and yes, they are alive. Our guide was very empathetic and asked first if it would be ok as we had two children with us. Very impressed!
Rare kazu Posted May 6, 2015 Author #1557 Share Posted May 6, 2015 Our Master Chef's Table. It was a smart casual night but as you can see most people were dressed very nicely. Suitable for such a nice meal... and our lovely staff that took such good care of us that night... Our cellar master Ingo...you can see some of the lovely crystal and our champagnes. the granite was delicious
Rare kazu Posted May 6, 2015 Author #1558 Share Posted May 6, 2015 at our second meet and greet we were served mimosas, strawberry champagnes (sparkling wine), cupcakes and delicious fruit covered pastries. here is a pic of the captain as he was teasing 1of4's DD and DS. When they hesitated to take the cupcakes, he yanked them away and of course then re-offered them. and told them to take two - their parents could hold one for them :) and here they are with their two cupcakes and the captain as you can see the roll call was enjoying the treats and munchies... back with more pics later if it's ok. My grandchildren (ages 6 to 12) can run circles around me when it comes to technology! Have really enjoyed following along on your cruise via this thread. Thanks for sharing. Wish I could identify folks in the pictures. Don't think I've sailed with any of them, but love that everyone looks so happy!! Not one grouch in the bunch!! Rare kazu Posted May 6, 2015 Author #1563 Share Posted May 6, 2015 Puerto Chiapas - the port I dreaded turned out to be fun! don't you love the costumes? and here is our Adagio - they were absolutely fabulous!! They have been playing together for a number of years so if you are lucky enough to have them onboard. Enjoy. Their contract was up May 9th but they said they would be returning to HAL. They need to be in a larger venue. Most nights it was packed!
summer slope Posted May 6, 2015 #1564 Share Posted May 6, 2015 Jacqui, why were you dreading Puerto Chiapas?
Rare Vict0riann Posted May 6, 2015 #1565 Share Posted May 6, 2015 (edited) I had been kind of dreading Puerto Chiapas, too. After 3 really hot Central American ports, I was really wiped out, and felt quite ill. I cancelled my tour with DH and left him to go to Izapa on his own to visit Mayan ruins. He enjoyed his day, along with 2 of 1of4's family, but he did say it was hot, and I wouldn't have liked it. I felt better after a while, so I went into Tapachula on the shuttle ($10 round trip) and wandered around there on my own for 20 minutes and then took the shuttle back to the ship. It was a cute little town, and the drive was interesting. Edited May 6, 2015 by Vict0riann
Lizzie68 Posted May 6, 2015 #1566 Share Posted May 6, 2015 It had been incredibly hot and we also decided not to go anywhere in Puerto Chiapas, but they have an excellent facility right at the terminal there just for the cruise ships, so we spent much of the day by the pool right next to the ship, and had lunch in the shade there. They have really done a nice job of making it attractive to the cruise ship passengers, and there are some nice shops there as well. It is good to see a lot of information from this cruise, especially about the Hal Club, has been garnered for the site-that-cannot-be-mentioned. Rare kazu Posted May 6, 2015 Author #1567 Share Posted May 6, 2015 Jacqui, why were you dreading Puerto Chiapas? I didn't want to take the long drive to the ruins as they are not that great compared to others. I had read that the town that you take the shuttle too was dusty and dangerous so had thought we would stick around the port area as we would be toured out. But DH wanted to go to the town and it is not dusty, nor full of beggars. It's a cute town and we had no problem with the shuttle despite what I had read on the ports boards. We were glad we went. It's just a relaxing visit but very enjoyable. Do have pesos if you go there. They don't take American dollars in a lot of places.

I still have to convert the menus and On Locations to pdf but I will get that done tonight or tomorrow bright and early and get them off and downloaded I really liked the performances at the dock at Puerto Chiapas as well :).
