FTTF is s slap in the face to the folks that EARNED the ability to cut lines the hard way

Well I'm glad I could help Carnival out with this said slapping. ;)

when the next available agent called me up, an older "gentleman " rushed up from the middle of the line and stated "how come he gets to go to the front of the line and not wait like everyone else?"

When the agent explained fttf he made a dismissive hand wave and stated "thats bull____". He then stormed back to the lines in a huff.

That moment was priceless

Or perhaps the older gentleman was just frustrated because he had been standing in line for a while? Not everyone is aware of FTTF; there are lots of people who aren't diehard cruisers. I appreciate the perks that come with status, but I don't need someone else to be miserable in order for me to enjoy those perks even more. Just sayin' ...

We do cash accounts so at the end of the cruise we go down to cash the account out.

I don't judge people who spend their money on alcohol, tobacco, or the casino all cruise - wanna know why? It's not my money😃 I couldn't give a flying flip if someone thinks I wasted MY money on FTTF. I'll never sail without it if possible.

The biggest reason is priority boarding, the room being ready when I board, and having luggage delivered early. I like to take the first half hour of my cruise setting my room up and dropping off my carry on that way I have the whole day to peruse. It's worth every single penny I spend on it. :)

I also am in a suite so I already have priority boarding, but the tender priority and guest services priority, plus early access to our cabin makes it worthwhile. I went to guest services about 10 times on our last cruise (22 days). Twice to get our cards punched, then several times when a broken pipe for the Serenity pool flooded our room, a couple times to ask questions, and on the last sea day to get a refund of our obc. Almost every time there was at least five people in the regular line, and a couple times there were 10 to 20 people.

Amen to your comments. We are in a suite but having the cabin ready and the priority tending and guest services makes the $50 so worth it!

Only one person in the cabin needs to buy the "excursion" for $49.99

To us it is worth every penny.

FTTF prints on your boarding pass and on your luggage tags.

Ability to board after the Platinum's, Diamonds and Suite guests.

Your room is ready as soon as you board. (otherswise you're waiting til 1:30)

Your luggage is delivered very quickly. Otherwise you may not have it until later on in the day.

So at this point, I'm on the ship, in my room and unpacked by usually 2pm. I'm ready to relax. Otherwise I might be stuck in the lido holding all my carryon's and trying to eat in the lido.

My husband has mobility issues. We just got back from a cruise on the Dream and this got our vacation off to a great start.

Next was the tender line. We had one tender port. We were late arriving and everyone wanted off the ship. They had fttf gather in one of the lounges to get off very early. Well, we wanted to sleep in. When we wanted to leave, we were escorted to "not quite the front of the line" but very close. The stairwells were filled with people waiting to leave. Priceless.

We never used guest services, but have on previous cruises.

They only sell so many based on the number of platinum's etc.

YMMV.

They had 5 people working 5 stations. And two behind the lines (enemy lines based on some of the disjointed faces I observed debating their charges) so it seemed it was all hands on deck or as many hand as could fit behind the counter.

And if they used the excursion desk they could have had 5 more people...just responding to the original question of if they could do more, the answer is yes... And it would probably go a long way with people. The people who work the ships wear multiple hats and I don't see why they couldn't add this on the last day..

I have gone to guest services maybe 2 or 3 times over a dozen cruises.

How many times per cruise are you people at Guest Services complaining that you value this perk so much?

Going to Guest Services doesn't have to be about complaining. On my Glory cruise where I had FTTF I had to go 5 times to GS because my son lost his glasses and Ipod. On the last day I decided to check under the non-movable couch bed and low and behold they were there. Was happy I didn't have to stand in a line even 10 people deep during those trips to GS.

Ohhhh, lol, sorry. I thought you were talking about embarking. If it was a line with people that needed customer service, then yes, I agree, 50 people in line is a little much!

Yes, 50 people in a GS line is a bit much but completely normal on the last night of every cruise I've been on.

You earned Platinum by paying for it. Others earned FTTF by paying for it. Where's the difference?

If the fact that FTTF is available on Carnival upsets you so greatly feel free to switch lines to someone who doesn't have it.

It's too bad that there was a 50 person line at all - that makes me think there has to be a better way to provide customer service to ALL passengers (or maybe something odd happened to make the line so horrendous?). I would come back later if the line was truly that long...

every cruise, no matter the line, guest service is always crazy the last night. EVERYONE wants to settle thier bill or has a question or something. On our last cruise, the ONLY reason I didn't adjust tips down was because I was too lazy to go downstairs and deal with the line. I'd rather chill in my room, so tips stayed.

If you don't go the first or last night, there's not normally an issue.

The way I look at it, if you cant handle waiting in lines, cruising isnt for you. Id never spend 60 bucks to get priority lines. Im on vacation, I am not in any rush.

Big difference between not rushing and just plain wasting time.

IMO, as long as they don't oversell, causing a line for others, I don't see the problem. But, surely, that person could be helping others if there's no one in the prioirty line? Just make the lines come from two directions.

The biggest reason I get FTTF is for the priority guest services line. I may never need to use it, but if I do, fttf guarantees I can skip that long line. If there's something that can wait, I will go in the middle of the night. No line. Except for the last night, where the regular line forms around 6:00pm and stays that way all night.

Any number of things can come up requiring guest services. I've never gone there to "complain," but if I did, that's what they are there for.

We use guest services to cash travellers cheques, put money on our s&s, get change for laundry, return someone else's s&s etc. We have enjoyed FTTF and will on our upcoming b2b as well. After that we will be platinum and will leave FTTF for someone else.

Hear that.... FTTF is still a waste of 60 bucks

I think we ALL get that you dislike it...you say it on every thread about it. This is about liking it..not what a waste it is...which is of course..is only your opinion.

It's when at self-assist debarkation and the cruise line staff doesn't separate those of us that are platinum from the FTTF and I am forced to wait almost 90 seconds for them to clear out so I can leave...

The horror :)

Please...

Some people earned it with 10 3 day cruises or 30 days, and some people earned it at 75 days. Unfortunately I earned it the hard way and I still don't begrudge people paying for the few (not all) benefits that come with it. Because I willingly paid for it too a few times. Didn't hurt a soul except my wallet.

Even with my 13-day cruise next January, I'll still be three days shy of Platinum, yet as can be seen in my signature, I have sailed on Carnival six times with the shortest cruise being six days. I do wish Carnival used HAL's system of giving double credit to single cruisers and credit for dollars spent. Every cruise was in an aftwrap suite, so I really will have earned my Platinum status. :) LOL

Agreed... It was CCL idea to prey on people ALWAYS in a hurry with this HIGHLY profitable FTTF sticker.

why the heck would I want to rush around on a cruise vacation or any vacation

The Op was talking about the guy who complained about OP "cutting" in line. Sounds like someone in a pretty bad mood who really didn't want to wait to me. Oh, and as for earning the perk...... old news

This makes little to no sense. Who would more likely be in a rush, someone who just wasted 30mins in a line or the person who just walked to the front and was on their way in less than 5 mins?

The people who are against FTTF usually say it is a waste of money, but it all comes down to value. 30 mins of my time is worth more than $60. I go on vacation to relax and have fun, I do find standing in queue fulfilling in either of those categories.

EVERY thread about FTTF is the same,,gotta make sure their opinion is heard. I haven't seen a FTTF thread yet..that people haven't chimed in about they hate it or it's a waste of money.

It's not so much people stating their opinions, the problem is people trying to pass off their opinions as if they were fact.

We just got off the Glory on Saturday and had FTTF and hopefully never have to sail without it again. On the last day there were about 50 on our ship as well in line. There were 2 in front of me at the priority line. While waiting I noticed the majority were asking about the declaration paper (self-explanatory). Also and this really bothers me, many were having their tips removed for various BS reasons. That's why the line is so long.
