SEXYREDBONE Posted April 11, 2018 #2651 Share Posted April 11, 2018 Ok, I admit it. I'm not with the times! :o Have been an AARP member for a few years, but just recently found out about this program. Like a week ago. Have already used it to purchase 5 $500 gift cards and save $250 on my upcoming cruise. But I have no idea what you are talking about regarding other ways to earn points. It doesn't take me long to run through several quizzes and earn the 5000 daily limit on points. But what else can I do? I confess I have not read all 133 pages of this thread. Anyone willing to share some tips or tricks? Thanks! You should be getting emails from AARP that. Will have promo codes on the very bottom like the past OP said , All you do is Copy the code and paste it when you click . I get those emails at least every other day. I hope that helps Rosalind Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I'll keep a lookout for more! Sorry if I am asking for old info. Fl Couple, I do get your point about starting a new thread with questions. And I do try to search for answers on any topic I may be wondering about before starting a new thread or posting to an old one. But as mentioned, with 133 pages on this thread, it is a lot of information to wade through. Maybe when I am more experienced with this rewards program I'll try to post a summary of ways to earn points and save. (BTW I also did a google search but the top 15-20 results seemed to just link back to AARP and show the same pages I have found there before.) I appreciate every new tip I learn here on CC -- and I've learned a lot! Thanks to Fl couple, Rosalind and everyone who shares helpful information. Last thing: being new to this program, I don't know why this would be the case, but it does seem that some of us are seeing the cards as available while others are getting "sold out" messages. They are still showing up as available for me -- however when I tried to purchase one just now, it says I have reached the weekly limit of 5 cards in 7 days. I purchased my first one on the 5th, so I should be eligible for another soon. Best of luck to all in snagging these savings! Rare luckybecky Posted April 20, 2018 #2661 Share Posted April 20, 2018 Can someone help explain how to buy it? Do I need to become their member to get discount? Thank you very much Hi fat cat! Welcome to Cruise Critic. I just learned about this myself and was so excited to find out about it. Basically you can buy gift cards at a 10% discount and then apply them to pay for your cruise or onboard spending. You do not have to have an AARP membership to qualify. So go to the AARP website and look for the "Rewards for Good" link near the top of the page. You will have to create an account with a login ID and password, but this is free. Next, you need to start earning points. They have a ton of quizzes you can take. They are very fast and easy and it does not matter if you get the answer right or wrong. At the end of the quiz you will be awarded a few hundred points. Keep repeating this process to earn up to 5000 points per day. Then, your points will qualify you to buy merchandise or gift cards. you can click on "redeem my points" or "rewards catalog" to see what is available. To purchase a $500 Carnival gift card you will need 5000 points and it will cost you $450. Since the points are free (aside from a small time investment), you will have saved $50. You can also purchase $100 gift cards for $90. You can choose "e gift cards" which are a code sent to you by email, or physical cards that are mailed to you for a nominal fee. My understanding from people here is that the cards are not always available. However I have successfully purchased several of them recently. It was definitely worth the time to take the quizzes to earn points. They don't take long and I just clicked through them while watching TV in the evenings. I hope this helps! wardwhitty Posted April 20, 2018 #2663 Share Posted April 20, 2018 Sorry I am sure this has been asked but after you make the final payment can you add the Carnival AARP cards to your onboard account to pay for the Cheers Package, tips, shore excursions etc before you actually sail? You don't "add them" to your account then pay for your grats, excursions, cheers, etc, you purchase those things in the Fun Shops and yes, you can do that with gift cards. You just don't preload them to do that though. Just go in and make your purchase(s) and make your payment with gift cards.

bury me at sea Posted April 20, 2018 #2666 Share Posted April 20, 2018 You can also use them to purchase Cruise Cash on line up to, I believe, $500.00 per cabin. This credit will appear on your on-board S&S account. Be aware, however, that Cruise Cash is non-refundable (unless you cash out at the casino). Buy less than you are sure you will spend on board, using the gift cards.

lennythenose Posted April 20, 2018 #2668 Share Posted April 20, 2018 I have purchased Cruise Cash to use the remaining amounts on several gift cards so I didn't have to keep up with them or lose the small amount left unused. Others have mentioned preferring to use Cruise Cash because it can be done ahead of time so is already on your account when you board instead of waiting to apply cards either when you check in or at Guest Services. dsotm73 Posted April 20, 2018 #2671 Share Posted April 20, 2018 Buying it on-line, prior to the cruise, with gift cards purchased at a discount. But why take the superfluous step of buying the cruise cash? Just apply the GC to your S&S account.

bsp Posted April 21, 2018 #2673 Share Posted April 21, 2018 Easy to do too. Happy sailing. Works perfectly. You can even use in slot machines if you want (choose charge to your room on machine). We did this in February and next to the last night we won some money and still had money from gift cards left on our account. We cashed out all of it in the casino. Thanks everybody here because I didn't know anything about it until seeing it on this site. I have learned a lot from you all here. Organized Chaos Posted April 21, 2018 #2675 Share Posted April 21, 2018 I just ordered 6 $500 cards Just as a reminder, if you purchase the physical cards totaling $500 or more, they are sent via UPS and must be signed for. I’ve read that some people have had them sent to UPS stores when they weren’t able to sign for them at home. Anything less is mailed via USPS (no signature). To those who are new to this, you’ll also receive emails with promotional codes in them worth 150 pts. each. The codes are always at the bottom of the email, so be sure to look. You can go into your account and add newsletters to your list in order to get more promo codes. Personally, I use a spare email account for this.
