To get this much you would need 20,000 points. How does everyone accumulate points? I am new at this. Thanks

Go to the AARP site and click on "Rewards for Good".

Earn points by completing informative quizzes and using helpful tools. There are hundreds of ways to earn. Just look for the Rewards for Good badges. AARP Members earn 50% more points!

You can instantly redeem the points you've earned.

Hope this helps.

Thank you! I have not read anything about having to have points until I tried to get me one then I noticed it. Guess I need to get busy this weekend.

You don't even need to read the questions and answers. Literally just click through them. You can click through one of their quizzes in less than 20 seconds. It doesn't matter if you get them all wrong, you still get the points.

Or, you can read the questions and answers and possibly learn something.:cool:

You're right, you could. But I think most of us just want the gift cards, aren't going there for a lesson. It's a quick and easy way to rack up points to get the gift cards.

Too much effort either way.

You're right, there is a little effort involved. However, I don't mind putting in 3 minutes worth of work to click through a few pages of random surveys to save $500 on a cruise. That $500 is a big savings for us. If you don't need/want that $500 worth of savings then by all means, don't spend 3-5 minutes clicking through a bunch of random crap to save the money. That leaves more for us who do want them.

Oh i get the gift cards just dont have to do surveys anymore and when i purchase gc's with my travel card i get another bonus on top of it. Also if you check out the other threads you can find out how to save even more than just 10 to 12%.

Would you please point us to some of those other threads? Or other ways to save 10-12% by purchasing GCs with a travel card?

Research travel rewards cards, mine gives 2% cash back on travel related purchases. Carnival gift cards qualifies. I have previously posted which card that is but i have been reported for doing so. Alot of haters on here.

I have posted other sites to find cards too and also been reported for it.

My Sam’s club card gives me 3% back on travel, but that does not equal the 10% discount on the AARP gift cards. Seems like you indicated a way to save more than that 10%.

Stacking discounts will get you more than 10%. Kinda like extreme couponing. Ive used an online shopping app to gain an additional 6% rebate on top of the 10% pared with 2%. Not quite 18% but you get the idea.

For those of you that use the gift cards...do you buy cruise cash with them so that you don't have to bother with bringing the cards with you, or do you save them, bring them and have them put onto your account once you are on the ship?

I have already paid for my cruise. I don't know how much to buy, I have no idea how much we will spend and if we will do ship excursions or independent ones.

If you paid for your cruise with a credit card you can call carnival and they will apply the card to your cruise and refund the credit card that amount.

I buy usually like $200 worth of Cruise Cash. That typically is sufficient for my on board spending.

For the future you can always have them credit your CC back and apply the gift cards for your deposit. However, once you have made final payment you cannot. I asked my PVP that same thing.

I take the gift cards to guest services to have them applied to our account. I have a pretty good idea of how much we will spend on board. I don't apply all that I take but if my balance gets low I add another card.

I have them apply the cards to my account right at check in. It only takes a couple of extra minutes at check in and then I don’t have to wait in the guest services line once on board. I have also bought cruise cash in the past but the cruise cash is non refundable if you don’t use it all. Do what is best for you.

Now that they are going to the cards in the mailboxes you will need to stand in an additional line to do so. I want to skip it and find the fastest way is by using Cruise Cash. You can still cash out via the casino the same way as you can with the gift cards.
