Rare mitsugirly Posted May 20, 2015 #408 Share Posted May 20, 2015 mitsugirly only one trip out of pc to bermuda in Oct and one in May, oct is on the sunshine That really sucks. :( I went and looked Bermuda trips up and found an April, some May and October on a few Carnival ships. I have no desire to go to Bermuda when the weather is not "hot" (or hotter than Spring or Fall). Darnit. Why don't they have other ships going during the summer????

emmy Posted May 20, 2015 #410 Share Posted May 20, 2015 1,307 current viewers of the Bermuda Port Web Cam... I think the most I've seen prior to today was 30 or 40! Actually last October during Hurricane Gonzalo Port Bermuda webcam had over 10,000 viewers at one time. I was totally amazed at that and many news agencies were using it to track the storm. The webcam did not loose power when much of the island did during that strong hurricane. It is indeed a great webcam but true for a regular sail away day 1,307 is a 'good viewing' day for them:):)
Rare mking8288 Posted May 20, 2015 #411 Share Posted May 20, 2015 Well, the Dawn has sailed east past St. George & headings changed, speed went from 13 km to 16 km and now at 19.4 km pointing north - so forward motion isn't a problem, should clear most of the shallow channel & coral by now - precision steering should not be an issue until they get into the Boston harbor area early Friday morning - surely, the pilot boats & tug boats will get call out to do the escort if necessary, afterall - CNN & Fox News will be joining the local TV stations for live update - with or without Anderson Cooper ... and, in other boring related news - what's the rush to get back onto the Breakaway for those pax - looked like they aren't even stopping for photo ops on the pier ?? Possibly all coming back from their shortened tours or excursions ?? Those headed for the south shore beaches usually don't rush back unless  Maybe it's early bird dinner at all the BA specialty restaurants are free or UBP as free for all - today only specials ?? Imagine the buffet lines or the wait to get into O'Sheehans :D - hmmm, Room Services ... anyone. Everything else for the Dawn seemed to be looking good at this moment. Yes now the local Boston TV stations get to go back to talking about a convicted murderers jailhouse lookout role in a fight... as if we care. (Aaron Hernandez)... ugh... first time in a long time I actually watched the news for news and not just weather and traffic.
paulekrause Posted May 20, 2015 #415 Share Posted May 20, 2015 Was on the Dawn from NYC to Bermuda about 11 years ago when it lost power for about 30 minutes about an hour after leaving Bermuda. We all hoped we'd go back to have it checked, but headed home once power was restored. So what is it with this ship and power? Maybe its the Bermuda Triangle...... CPT Trips Posted May 20, 2015 #420 Share Posted May 20, 2015 As I thought, the steering issue had not been fixed until today. The statement merely uses past tense without specifying when.

Boatdrill Posted May 20, 2015 #423 Share Posted May 20, 2015 Actually, dropping anchor for the Concordia was the about the ONLY thing they did right. It slowed the ship and swung it closer to shore to stop. Left it in shallower water and closer to shore for many who jumped into the water. If they had not dropped the anchor it would have drifted further out from shore and sunk faster. The wind pushed it ashore. The superstructure acted like a sail. BonTexasNY Posted May 20, 2015 #424 Share Posted May 20, 2015 My friend is on the Breakaway now. She emailed earlier to tell me they arrived in Bermuda late and that she's having a blast. She started her email with "IT WASN'T MY SHIP" which I knew once I did the research. I don't understand the long line to get back on the Breakaway mid-day? When we were in Bermuda we were gone for hours at a time and grabbed a bite to eat somewhere NOT on the ship. I'll have to ask my friend if she was one of those that tendered in and then joined the masses to get back on the ship. Glad it turned out well for all who were impacted.
