missyoulikegravy Posted June 12, 2015 #1 Share Posted June 12, 2015 Hi all, I haven't been on a Princess cruise for about a year and a half now and I recently saw a notice pop up when looking at the current promotion that the price was not combinable with other offers? Can we not still combine OBC from Future Cruise credit, shareholder benefit and travel agent benefits? Or are they cutting back with this? Thank you for your help. Sorry if this has been asked before. Andrea
Astro Flyer Posted June 12, 2015 #2 Share Posted June 12, 2015 All of those are still combinable & based on what I've read are only unusable for some fares such as employee or travel agent rates. One recent change is that only one type of complementary OBC is refundable which is military.
missyoulikegravy Posted June 12, 2015 Author #3 Share Posted June 12, 2015 I'm just curious, as I did a mock booking for an August med cruise and that popped up just before you choose a room...

Unless you're booking a TA or employee rate that restriction does not apply. :)

caribill Posted June 12, 2015 #6 Share Posted June 12, 2015 Hi all, I haven't been on a Princess cruise for about a year and a half now and I recently saw a notice pop up when looking at the current promotion that the price was not combinable with other offers? Can we not still combine OBC from Future Cruise credit, shareholder benefit and travel agent benefits? I interpret this as not being combinable with other booking offers and having nothing to do with various benefits such as OBC from the FCC. For example, maybe there is another offer available that includes free specialty dining or booking OBC or a beverage package. The offer you are seeing would not combinable with another offer that has any of those amenities.
Astro Flyer Posted June 12, 2015 #7 Share Posted June 12, 2015 And the Captains Circle OBC for more than 20 cruises is also refundable. Thanks...I wasn't aware of that fact although if we have a credit balance my wife is able to find something she wants to purchase after deducting our 10% elite discount. My husband is equally committed to that cause. However, we very much appreciated the ability to get US $ for extra tips when we were cruising in French Polynesia even though we were left with a net balance due on our onboard account. That's a good idea & we gift ourselves casino cash to use for tips & independent tours because we don't want to travel with too much money. caribill Posted June 13, 2015 #11 Share Posted June 13, 2015 I had a bad experience with this, where purchased casino credit was posted as 'ordinary' onboard credit. Purchased casino credit is usually a card to be redeemed at the casino for cash which you can then use any way you want including in the casino. It should not be posted on your account statement at all.
Astro Flyer Posted June 13, 2015 #12 Share Posted June 13, 2015 I had a bad experience with this, where purchased casino credit was posted as 'ordinary' onboard credit. Thankfully both times I had no problems & when I called Princess they used the correct code which I got from the gifts section of their website. We booked through a TA who received our confirmations & forwarded them to us to take on our cruise to prove that we purchased casino gift credit which we redeemed for dollars. Oh I didn't know Elites could get 10% off. Do Princess offer that on all cruises or just some special offers? Silly me! It's the shop discount you're referring to. Apparently there was a miss-communication when I called and purchased casino credit -- when I came on board and checked my folio, I had $500 in OBC posted to the account. I had been expecting 5 paper vouchers to take to the casino and cash. It took a second-line person at the purser's desk to fix. Now, I will double check before sailing. I had checked, online, had seen the $500, and assumed everything was fine. But, I guess I didn't check closely enough.

Yes, do double check before sailing AND bring paper copies with you on the cruise, including the credit card statement. I had purchased two $100 casino credits for our cruise last month and when I boarded there was only one voucher in the cabin for $100. The casino only had record of one $100 credit. I showed them the e-mail acknowledgement for $200 total and the credit card charge for $200 and it STILL took them two days to verify it and get me the other voucher. When it did come to my cabin, it had both my portion AND the casino's portion still attached so it obviously was not done through normal channels! I believe the whole problem began with the Princess agent on the phone not knowing what a casino credit was or how to process it. She had to put me on hold to find out what she should do and finally said the two $100 credits were applied and if there was nothing else, to have a nice day! I had to politely inform her that she still needed to get my credit card info to PROPERLY complete the transaction!!

We pre-purchase OBC all the time but have found no way to see the purchase online before the cruise because the system is designed for friends or TA's to purchase "surprises" for you when you board. I don't know if pre-purchased Casino credits are different but regular pre-purchased OBC can't be seen before you board. Terry

Any time I purchase something in advance such as OBC, coffee card, soda & more package I ask Princess to send me email confirmation and then print it out and take it onboard with me "just in case". It's easy to do and provides peace of mind.

Terry Both times I've purchased Casino credits they were not visible in our account & only in the confirmation my TA received which she forwarded to me. I purchased it directly from Princess & requested an email confirmation. They said because I booked using a TA the confirmation could only be sent to my TA.
