SeaWatch Posted June 13, 2015 #1 Share Posted June 13, 2015 Which ship do you prefer? Both go from Boston to New England/Canada! Help..... Thanks
George C Posted June 13, 2015 #2 Share Posted June 13, 2015 I prefer the Maadam since it has 2 pools, other than that there is not much difference.
Rare Crazy For Cats Posted June 13, 2015 #3 Share Posted June 13, 2015 It would depend on itinerary. We did the 14 day Maasdam to Montreal and liked it. Afterward thought that the overnight stay in Quebec might have been better. We have sailed on both and would be happy to sail on either again. catl331 Posted June 13, 2015 #4 Share Posted June 13, 2015 (edited) Maasdam. Been on both, won't go on Veendam a 3rd time. Edited June 13, 2015 by catl331
SeaWatch Posted June 14, 2015 Author #5 Share Posted June 14, 2015 I prefer the Maadam since it has 2 pools, other than that there is not much difference. Does the Maasdam have outside dining options?
Rare mskaufman Posted June 14, 2015 #6 Share Posted June 14, 2015 Part of the choice is whether you want the overnight in Quebec or want to continue on to Montreal. We chose Veendam because we were able to get a reasonable flight from Quebec and thought the extra day in Quebec was a better option (for us) than going on to Montreal just to use their airport. RuthC Posted June 14, 2015 #7 Share Posted June 14, 2015 All else being equal, I would choose the Maasdam every time. The ship is just in better condition, and hasn't been fiddled with at the stern Navigation/Lido Decks. However, rarely is everything equal when deciding. Even in this case, where the itineraries are so alike, there is that difference of the overnight in Quebec City, vs. going further upstream and experiencing Montreal, too. There's also the consideration of flights in/out. For many people, it's a lot easier to get to/from Montreal than Quebec City. Unless you are doing a back-to-back from/to Boston, one of those Quebec cities has an airport you will use.
KruzPrincess Posted June 14, 2015 #8 Share Posted June 14, 2015 I'd choose the Maasdam because it's much easier for me to fly in and out of Montreal. Quebec City is lovely and I enjoyed two days there, but I could have been happy with one day.
Himself Posted June 14, 2015 #9 Share Posted June 14, 2015 I vote Maasdam since the extreme make over of the Veendam
lazey1 Posted June 14, 2015 #10 Share Posted June 14, 2015 We love both ships and wouldn't hesitate to cruise on either one. That being said if it was exactly the same iten, we would probably choose Maasdam just because of the ships decor.:)
