gaylemh Posted April 20, 2018 #1776 Share Posted April 20, 2018 Wow, so you get $1,000 a cruise and the comp Classic Beverage Package! https://www.celebritycruises.com/things-to-do-onboard/casino/blue-chip-club If I'm reading it right their points are only $1 per point, as opposed to Royal's $5/ point on slots. So Sapphire would be equal to 20,000 points on Royal. Much better than the benefits I've seen for Prime for 20,000 points.
maryjaden Posted April 20, 2018 #1777 Share Posted April 20, 2018 Whoa, what? I booked an 11 nighter in a Grand Suite to get me to Diamond. Booked a year ago. You mean they will not give me double points because I got a casino rate? If they implement this for previously booked cabins, it will be my last cruise with RCI. Is this in writing? No but has been confirmed in calls to CR and C &A. They were having a meeting about it today and many of us have been promised a communication back from Michael Bayley's office. I dont understand why they would not grandfather in previously booked cruises. Will post again if Nelson Frau in MB's office actually does email me back, as he promised. And I am with you. If no grandfathering, I am done with Royal. No more $$ from me. I just received this message from RCI Thanks for your patience, Mary. After reviewing the policy, we've decided our Casino Royale members will still receive double points when upgrading. I do apologize for the frustration this may have caused, and please know, we greatly appreciate your loyalty. -Val

PompeySailor Posted April 20, 2018 #1780 Share Posted April 20, 2018 Your welcome. Now I just have to wait until after my May cruise to find out for sure. Thanks Mary:) We hopefully too will see those double points early June. Good to see the CR community getting together and making RC, CR and C&A aware of our concerns and issues with the NEW program. Happy Days!

maryjaden Posted April 20, 2018 #1786 Share Posted April 20, 2018 Thakks Mary. What a fire drill we went through but glad they did the right thing. Yeah, unbelievable. I made several calls and emails. Though it was nice to see across social media that our group was able to effect change. Kudos to whoever originally brought this to everyone 'S attention. I sure hope we aren't talking about apples and oranges here.
Debinnova Posted April 20, 2018 #1789 Share Posted April 20, 2018 On the other thread on this subject here, it has been determined that they are still taking away the double points for casino royale discounted suites. Mary's email was regarding an upgrade. Someone has spoken to representatives that said that it has not been changed back and that casino discounted suites will not get double points. So until we are sure, everyone needs to email and call. Sent from my KFTHWA using Tapatalk HD
NewfieGuy1972 Posted April 20, 2018 #1790 Share Posted April 20, 2018 I highly doubt there is any truth to this. If you think about it, the players that get a discounted rate through Casino Royale have a proven history of spending enough cash on board (weather it be actual or theoretical) in the casino, to warrant a discount on a suite. Chances are they'll put more money at risk than the cost of the cabin ever was to begin with. Or lets say a high level player books a star class suite (with a small discount) but it still cost 8-10k cash out of pocket or more)! Do you really think that they are not going to give them double points when someone in a JS that they have paid 2k (or so for) is getting double pts? Come-on folks, let be realistic here! Do you really think that they are not going to give them double points when someone in a JS that they have paid 2k (or so for) is getting double pts? Come-on folks, let be realistic here! Well, it absolutely IS true. The new policy to deny double points for all suites booked with any kind of a casino discount has already been implemented. Those of us who are affected by this new policy are in the process of trying to get it reversed. Personally, I think this has little to do with revenue and more to do with C&A trying to find ways to slow down the astronomic growth of higher level C&A members. Since cruising in a suite (along with single cruising) has always been one of the best ways to accelerate the advancement to higher tiers of C&A it is my belief that they are trying to minimize this explosive growth any way they can. For C&A to say that the had no idea that casino rates were being used for suites, and now considering this as "double dipping", is utterly ridiculous. Any number of times, when calling C&A for one reason or another, the reps would congratulate me on being so "smart" for booking suites at discounted rates and getting to D++ so much more quickly. That's why Club Royale and Crown & Anchor are at war over this issue. CR has ALWAYS used this perk as a way of promoting their program and rewarding their members. Suddenly C&A sees this as a risk to their exploding populations who are competing with suite guests for lounge space. They are simply looking for ways to slow down the growth of their already bloated population.

No, not that I know of but the new policy has been verified by both Club Royale and C&A independently. I got off Allure on April 15. I have yet to be awarded points from that cruise. I will know shortly.

Rare lazydayz Posted April 20, 2018 #1796 Share Posted April 20, 2018 DOUBLE POINTS FOR SUITES CONFIRMED Nelson Frau of Michael Bayley's office just called me. Thanked me for my loyalty and for expressing my concerns. He confirmed my two upcoming cruises by ship, sail date and confirmation number. He admitted Royal had implemented a new policy on April 15 - CR cruises would not be eligible for double points in Suites, much like you are NOT supposed to get double points on free or minimal cost upgrades, though it does happen sometimes. But given all of the negative feedback they received, Royal has reversed this new policy and cruises booked through CR will continue to receive double points for Suites. This is now in effect. He specifically confirmed my Allure of the Seas cruise on 9/16/18, which was booked through CR using a certificate, then upgraded for additional fee to a CLS would receive double points. So again, thanks to everyone who reached out to Royal. I believe we scored a victory on this one (at least for the time being).

Rare lazydayz Posted April 20, 2018 #1799 Share Posted April 20, 2018 Again that word "upgrade". Ugh.... Since the highest casino certificates are for a balcony, to get in a suite, it would also be an upgrade. Short answer, if you book and pay for a suite through CR, you will get double points. Are you concerned because you got a free suite? If so, congratulations to you. I have never been able to pull that off!

I have never been able to pull that off! Actually we booked a free junior for November that was part of a mailing. Short three nighter for port fees and grats. If I don’t get points for a free cruise so be it. Sent from my iPad using Forums
