CruisingSince2012 Posted June 22, 2015 #1 Share Posted June 22, 2015 I thought it would be a good idea to have one thread for everything related to a ship currently being built to debut next year. What do you know about Harmony of the Seas so far as she gets closer to completion?
The Sunset Glow Posted June 22, 2015 #2 Share Posted June 22, 2015 I think this is great. I was going to start compiling a list for myself but input from everyone collected in one place is fantastic. I am most interested in the differences from Oasis and Allure. Other than water slides and a little bigger in size, what other differences are there that's been revealed so far? Clarea Posted June 22, 2015 #3 Share Posted June 22, 2015 I believe it gets a Bionic Bar instead of the R Bar.

deliver42 Posted June 22, 2015 #6 Share Posted June 22, 2015 Captain Johnnie being on board could be reason enough for me to consider the Harmony. He was on the Mariner when it was new, and was better entertainment then the paid entertainers. What a real, down to earth person.

CruisingSince2012 Posted June 22, 2015 Author #8 Share Posted June 22, 2015 The cabins are of a design that is similar to Quantum class. What I don't understand is Harmony is an Oasis/Quantum class hybrid but they put her in the Oasis class. Why not the Quantum class, since it was built later? I had never heard of a cruise line doing that before.

Why not the Quantum class, since it was built later? I had never heard of a cruise line doing that before. Cabins on all ships are modular and factory pre-fabricated. This has nothing to do with the class of the ship. It is my understanding that STX built a new factory in France to construct the cabins and based the design on the factory in Finland that they have now sold to Meyer. Harmony is based on the same structural design as Oasis/Allure. For example, while the interiors of Voyager and Freedom class ships are very similar and they share a similar deck layout and cabin interiors are identical, the ships are of different structural specifications and thus the two separate classes. Rare Smitty815 Posted June 23, 2015 #12 Share Posted June 23, 2015 Are they actually replacing the side whirlpools with Waterslide exits? I was so excited for the Waterslides, however, this almost ruins it for me. I literally spend hours per day in those whirlpools. The other one will be horribly crowded now :(

MADflyer Posted June 23, 2015 #15 Share Posted June 23, 2015 MADflyer - To add to your list. Oasis - Presidental and Owners suites removed on Deck 12 Harmony- Presidental Suite and Owners suites back on Deck 12 Thanks. I wish someone would do one of those diagrams comparing the deck plans that they tend to do for the revitalizations. It is much more clear when there is a visual comparison. I had really not done any comparison of cabin counts, except I did notice right away that they had reduced the number of connecting cabins by at least 33% on Harmony. MADflyer Posted June 23, 2015 #16 Share Posted June 23, 2015 Was this a rumor you heard somewhere? I can't imagine a megaship not having more whirlpools than much smaller ships. They have not released the 'ship facts' for Harmony. It is certainly true that the two whirlpools are removed on the port side. They are 'enhancing' the solarium and might add additional whirlpools in that area.

You mean before and after drydocks? I had a hard time finding the current deck plans on the Sapphire Princess after her drydock, which was frustrating. MADflyer Posted June 23, 2015 #24 Share Posted June 23, 2015 They have only eliminated 2 smaller, mid-ship portside whirlpools to make room for the Waterslide Exit Area near the Main Pool.
Rare A&L_Ont Posted June 23, 2015 #25 Share Posted June 23, 2015 Suites ONLY SUN Deck Instead of VCL There was some confusion about that when Oasis came out of drydock due, to RC wording in their literature. Some thought that there would be a large balcony added for loungers, but that wasn't the case. The VCL won't become a suites sun deck. The suites sun deck will be at 17 forward at the same location as it had been on Allure and Oasis. The area where the VCL could have been will be the Costal Kitchen and suites lounge as they did on Oasis and Allure. I have attached a deck plan image to help clarify. :)
