hurwitz5 Posted June 26, 2015 #1 Share Posted June 26, 2015 Thinking of sailing on the Royal Princess, but have some questions. (1) Does the Royal Princess have an indoor pool? (2) Is there a lot of shade by the outdoor pools? We have most recently sailed in Celebrity's Solstice class ships and there are many lounge chairs in the shade by the outdoor pool and there is a beautiful indoor pool. However, we like some of the Caribbean itineraries offered by Princess.
riclop Posted June 26, 2015 #2 Share Posted June 26, 2015 No indoor pool and there are plenty of chairs in the shade.

HUNKY Posted June 26, 2015 #4 Share Posted June 26, 2015 Royal and Regal Princess also has the Sanctuary (at additional cost) which has super comfortable padded loungers with towel service, afternoon tea and snacks, outdoor showers, and seating areas all under canopy. Great views over the bow of the ship. December 2014 we opted for an inside cabin, but booked the Sanctuary for the week. It was truly like having a giant balcony. Our loungers were up front, so great views when we weren't snoozing. Unfortunately, the nearby adult only pool is not covered and tends to be a bit breezy. This pool area has quite a few shaded loungers. FYI - no additional charge for these though.

Shade really depends on the direction of the sun and whether the ship's superstructure will block the sun. This pool area is also very windy and the water from the hot tubs tends to be blown over the loungers. :(

Hi Hunky, I never thought about booking inside cabin and reserving sanctuary all week, sounds like a great idea. Question: How much is it for the week in the Sanctuary per person? We are booked on the 10-day Eastern Caribbean out of FLL Oct 11th

There are loungers and sofas and tables all around the perimeter of the two Fountain pools. There is less full shade by the Retreat Pool. As Pam said, it is not full shade, but filtered shade. If you want a full shade lounger, you can also find many around the corner from the pools on the sun deck underneath the exercise track.:)

Steelers36 Posted June 27, 2015 #14 Share Posted June 27, 2015 We used ours the first day. Why couldn't you use it the first day? It doesn't close. B2B'ers may be in there most of the day on turnaround and it is certainly open in the afternoon. It just may not have the afternoon service. Oh darn it. There I go extending another Sanctuary thread when I wish they were all buried. ;)
