Princess Visa Carryover?

We've been using the Barclays Princess Visa card for a long time and have enough built up to redeem a lot of OBC Rewards on our next cruise's.

We're doing a B2B. What I'd like to know (and can't find on the Barclays site), is, if we don't use up all our OBC Rewards on the first week of our cruise, will it transfer to the next week's cruise or will we just lose it?

Is this one of the non-transferable OBC's?

Thanks,

Did you book the b2b as two bookings or as one booking? If you have just one booking number then I would think you have both weeks to use up the OBC.

I cash in my points by getting a cruise discount rather than OBC. The discount comes in the form of a credit applied to your credit card bill.

No accounting difference between two booking nos. or a single 'logical' booking. The two legs are linked. At the end of the first leg any debit or credit balance will be transferred over to the second leg. So if you haven't used up all your OBC's then you will start your next leg with a credit balance.

100% agree.

Just check at the Purser's desk during the first segment to make sure the bookings are linked in their system.

And, yes, this is one of the non-refundable OBCs.

You should be able to tell if your two bookings are linked as soon as you get your cruise cards at check-in. If the number of days listed on the card covers both segments I would think you can assume the two cruises are linked. If not then you will be receiving a new card for the second cruise and you should check with Passenger Services to insure that they are linked.

I applied Princess Visa Reward as an OBC to my last cruise. The credit balance was refunded.

Someone pointed out that using the points towards your credit card bill was better. This way, whatever expenses you incur onboard give you DOUBLE points toward your next cruise! I've become a fan of using points towards cabin flowers and the Special Occasion Package. If I have a lot of points, then I apply them to the credit card bill after final payment.

The last time we applied the credit to the statement rather then OBC.

This is what we do, for exactly that reason. I was just checking online to see if we've received the $1000 reward we applied for last week and we haven't yet.

We will be canceling some cruises (before final payment date but after we made final payment) due to a change in plans and I'm wondering how that will affect the reward we applied for last week. Does anyone know if we simply go into a negative points balance or is some of the reward reclaimed by Barclay?

So the strategy could be: use your visa card while on board to receive double points...and then apply those points (along with what you have accumulated before your cruise) to a credit on your next statement?

I think you have to have a cruise booked in order to apply points/money to your credit card statement. You need a booking number. You can make your final payment and then apply the points to your statement.

How do you apply the credit to your credit card statement? I tried to do that a couple of weeks ago and talked to two different people at Barclays and I was told I couldn't do it. I know I have done it at least twice in the past and the second time I had difficulty also but managed to get it done. I can't remember how. Is there a certain number to call or person to talk to?

I would just do it on the Barclay website. Go to View your Rewards, Redeem Your Rewards, Cruise Discount and Free Cruises, Cruise Discount, do the drop down menu for how many points you want to use. Add to Cart, View Cart, etc. Then under Delivery Options they ask for your Booking Number. I think it's pretty self explanatory. It might take a couple of weeks to actually appear on your Barclay statement. Good luck!

You can do it online by visiting the redemption center and selecting a cruise discount ( you need your booking number) or I have found to to be very fast and easy to do it by talking directly to a redemption specialist - the last time I did this they took care of it quickly and sent me an email confirmation at the conclusion of the call. They will tell you it can take one to two billing cycles for it to show up ( mine have always shown up within one cycle). I have been very happy cashing my points in for cruise discounts as well as airfare discounts.

Love my Princess Visa!

I have read from others of using your booking number AFTER you return and have accumulated more points while on your cruise.

I am afraid to do this in case it backfires. Maybe I will prepay some stuff like gratuities/excursions and then apply before we leave.
