VIP on NCL

One of the things about cruising is all passengers are created equal. Nobody knows what cabin type you have and the service remains equal. If you're in a suite or haven you'll get extra perks and attention in your cabin with a butler and or concierge if you choose to use them.

There is a VIP status through the Casino at Seas program. Takes a great deal of play to get there! I had reached Golden last year which is below VIP. I was invited to a VIP cocktail party with the officers...very nice! Lots of goodies sent to our room each day. It was also supposed to include concierge services, but they weren't able to help me get VIP disembarkation.

We have been platinum for awhile and I can tell you it is not really VIP. It's nice to reach that status, but it doesn't include concierge, etc. On some ships there is an extra cocktail part for the higher latitudes tiers. There is an earlier disembarkation, but you can still get in a pretty big line depending on the ship. You get a dinner, some sparkling wine, small box of chocolates and a free laundry service. Nice....but not like being in a suite.

I have talked to and seen "regular passengers" with VIP tags. They were treated to all the Haven "treats" for a better word and had ocean view cabins. I asked how they got the honor. They did not "know' or did not tell me, as we would all get it.

After my next cruise I will have reached Platinum. I thought (according to NCL's website) that Platinum includes concierge service. Has this changed and the website hasn't caught up yet?

Thanks!

Hmmmm, I was VIP on a cruise..NEVER had a VIP tag. I've also never seen anyone on any of my cruises with VIP tags.

Yes, it does. You should get notices in you're cabin about priority disembarkation and priority tenders, if used. I can't remember off hand what else.

I'm not sure how you earn VIP status. But I do know that suite passengers have a different 'card' colour which I assume identifies them to the staff as VIP.

So I guess in most instances VIP is a purchased status?

We've been on the VIP list a few times, most times we haven't got a clue how or why and we've been surprised at check in. And no doing the meet and greet does not give you the right. A friend of ours was made VIP by their PCC and once when we were on the list there was a group of journalists and they all got VIP

Suite guests are not VIPs simply because they are in a suite...they are simply regular guests who enjoy special amenities because of the simple fact that they PAID extra to have those amenities.

VIP guests are given that status by the line and any amenities they receive are also given to them. They aren't "buying" what they get.

We were VIP once. I appreciated the thought by the HD. It was nice. Extra treats in the room. We got the best seats for one of the shows, using a back entrance. That's about it. We're Platinum anyway, so it really didn't amount to much. We were on B2Bs at that time. The next week, we're weren't VIP. Didn't really notice.

I surely wouldn't be concerned whether we got it again or not.

My parents were given VIP on our last cruise. We were in the Haven and they were not. I think my dad just hit it off with the concierge when we first boarded and later than day received a letter saying they were VIP. They were able to go to lunch and breakfast with us at Cagneys, got treats to their room, priority tenders, cocktail parties and things like that. Totally unexpected but we were very grateful as it made it easier for us since we were in a suite and had those perks as well. They were not allowed access to the Haven and we did not ask for it.
