We stayed at a wonderful, elegant hotel called the Boscolo Exedra. Truly a gorgeous hotel, very grand with first class service and delicious restaurants. Very close to the train station and not far from tourist sites. Highly recommended.

We stayed at Hotel Grifo on Oct 2013 post cruise. It was a lovely, small hotel with amazingly helpful staff (and the price was excellent!). It was just a couple of blocks from the Coliseum. I would stay there again in a heartbeat!

September of THIS year? Slim pickings for good Rome hotels within two months of visit and prices will be inflated for what you do find. I'd recommend Garibaldi Suites -half block from Piazza di Spagna. But, they book full many months in advance. Good Luck.

Nord Nuova on via G Amendola is a delightful - just two blocks from Termini and the juncture of Metro Lines A and B. Great if you want convenience to transportation. Also Mediterraneo on Via Cavour, just around the corner.

There are so many hotels in Rome, we could spend days trying to list them all. :) So many are fabulous. There is definitely one for everyone.
