Would you still cruise with NCL if they implement a Mandatory Service charge instead of a Discretionary service charge?

YES... always have paid mine,,,plus some extra all around. I once sailed on a ship, there were only six of us at the table.. last night, a party of 3 were sitting at another table with one of the ships officers,,, and the couple at the table DID NOT show up at all.....I was the only one to take care of the staff. I saw one of the two taking care of our table the next morning.. I ask if any of the others came be....was told no.....I could not sail this way...even if the service wasn't good, would still do something.....that's just me...

jus' me...jim...the velvet teddy bear....

I have felt for years that the DSC should be mandatory.

I've always felt it should be mandatory too. One of our adult kids recently sailed with a young friend who habitually behaves in a foolish, irresponsible way. The ditzy friend spent freely and did plenty of gambling in the casino). At the end of the cruise she announced that she couldn't afford to pay her bill. Her "solution" was to remove the DSC and stiff the crew. So unfair. Made me wonder how often people get away with this.

Yes. We consider it to be part of the cruise cost. If problems arise, they are dealt with. It's never occurred to us to reduce or not pay it. Room steward gets extras as do drink tabs as well as some wait staff. We watch our money carefully but consider those as part of the "fare."

I find it telling and a little amusing that all of the responses in form of posts are for YES! Add me to the list. Have never reduced and wish it was mandatory. To me, the tipping threads on Cruise Critic are the ones that are the saddest and frustrating.

Love my NCL crews and I am so blessed to be able to cruise as I have.

Of course. The whole question seems ridiculous.

It's a valid question considering the amount of bickering that goes on here...Thanks for your input
