Arriving at Cape Liberty on Oct. 11/15. Flight from LaGuardia to Canada is 12:30 pm same day. What is the best and quickest way to get to airport? Do I have sufficient time? We are taking the express walk-off so will depart ship as soon as it clears. I did not realize LGA was so far away when we booked our tickets. Thank you for any assistance you may provide.

Car service, but that could be tight. You will need to get to the airport by 10:30, and will be traveling at rush hour.

Is there a good car service which you would recommend. Am not familiar with this. Are they different than taxis and can I find them at the cruise terminal waiting for customers or do you recommend reserving the ride in advance. Thanks again for your assistance.

Oops, sorry, I read it wrong. No rush hour on Sundays. Carmel limo or dial 7 are two folks recommend here.

I appreciate your information. Do you think I should pre book a car service or look for one at the pier after we disembark. I have just read on another thread that there are 4 ships arriving in NY that day, I thing the other 3 are in Manhattan. This may make the car service companies hard to come by?

Sorry for the delay in getting back. I have booked a car service from Cape Liberty to LaGuardia for early morning on Oct. 11. Hoping there is no delays with the traffic. No point in worrying about that.

Interesting though. Shortly after I booked the car service, I received an email from them to inform me that they show no records of the Caribbean Princess arriving at Cape Liberty. I wrote back to inform them that this was a recent change made by Princess and in fact it was and still is scheduled to arrive on Oct. 11 at @ 7 am.

Just wondering if others who have made transfer arrangements have had similar concerns from their transfer agents?

Good. There are car service drivers who will wait for the unprepared (they will approach you whispering "Ride? Ride?" because what they're doing is somewhat illegal), but you will have to bargain with them for what it will cost, and I can pretty much guarantee you that it will cost you much more than booking a legitimate ride in advance unless you absolutely know what the game is and are prepared for some unpleasantness at the end of the trip. You will not have to deal with that if you book in advance. Taxis are a whole other weird thing in this area if you are crossing state lines, as you will be from NJ to NY. There are rules about trips to and from Newark airport, but other than that it can be like booking passage on a pirate ship.

Never use those who approach you. Never! It's illegal and usually it ends badly for those who use them. You will say, How much? They'll give you a reasonable fee. THEN when you get to your destination with your luggage in the trunk, the fee will not be what was negotiated but much more. You won't get your luggage unless you pay up. Those illegal hustlers as they are called, get arrested all of the time at the NYC airports but a couple of days later are back doing it.

The only car service (not medallion Cab) allowed at airport terminals are those who have been called by passengers for a pickup.

What is the cost to LGA

Both Dial7 and Carmel have online websites (we use Carmel's free Mobile App all the time ourselves) with most current detailed price quote & booking on the spot - pickup can be confirmed for as little as 5 to 10 minutes or 30 to 60 minutes later (just as good/fast as Uber or the other "car sharing" ride with their on-demand pricing)

Current price for this/next weekend - Cape Liberty to LGA is $72 for full-size sedan (Camary, Altima or similar, usually ... sometimes an older Towncar) $77 for a deluxe sedan or $86 for a luxury sedan or minivan, plus tolls and tips (we usually round up to 20% of the fare) - depending on exact routing taken. Should be no more than $110 to $120 all inclusive - e-receipt will be issued to your email address on file. Travel time should be under 90 minutes on weekend mornings, but allow 2 hours or more, as road conditions & accidents are unplanned surprises that we cannot predict.

** Look for online coupon code / discount to reduce the fare by $3 or more.

What is the cost to LGA

We booked a car service through "viator" for a cost of $190 US$ for 2 people. This price is all inclusive, tolls, gratuity, taxes. Viator subs the service out to Go Airlink. When I checked their prices for the same time etc. it was @ $20. more without the tips, (not sure about the tolls either). Viator sent me a coupon which I hand to the driver who will be waiting for me (name on a card). I have used viator twice before in the past for their tours and found them very well organized. Great company to deal with.

Sorry for the confusion, I just rechecked Go Airlink and their price is all inclusive. Cost $218 US$ for 2.

That is an amazingly high price. If you can cancel and rebook with Carmel or Dial 7 you will save an enormous amount of money.

Thanks for the suggestion. I have gone to both their web sites and in both cases neither allow me to input a pick up at Cape Liberty with a drop off at LaGuardia. When I entered the info backwards ie. as if I was arriving at the airport that day and wanting a transfer to Cape Liberty I was shown a price of $72 for the 2 of us plus tip and tolls. I'll have to call them to see if they will pick up at Cape Liberty and what it will cost.

Wow, I concur, pricey "meet and greet" rates at the airports and at JFK, riders are essentially paying for the driver's parking at the lots (and/or, will be escorted (riding together) onto the free AirTrain with the "uniformed" driver to the parking lot to retrieve the car, depending on the terminal (or, waking outside - i.e. T1 or T2, etc. if they are using short-term hourly lots, as there is strictly no curbside waiting by anyone, for security & public safety reasons. (And, within the past 72 hours - very, very strictly ENFORCED due to overseas incidents)

Viator is a third party booking agent and do not operate the service directly, AFAIK, hence - the name Go AirLink is mentioned, and it's very similar to SuperShuttles popularized on the West Coast / SFO & LAX area over the years, spreading their operations (and SS do NOT have a solid or dependable reputation here in the metro NYC area) Go ahead and "Bing" or "Google" or "Baidu" or "Yahoo" the Wiki information & links - why pay the middle person. Here's one of GoAirlink's shared shuttle van on local Queens street

At those prices, might be better off considering Uber X or Lyft (or whatever it's called) - personally, not a fan for these "ride-sharing" car services, IMHO. ;)

These are Dial7's coupon codes - use it online or by calling 212-777-7777 or 800-777-8888 to get the Validation #

$3 off any ride over $32 - Key Code VP05157 (expire 9/30/2015) or VV08157 (expire 11/30/15)

$4 off any ride over $39 - Key Code VP05158 (expire 9/30/2015) or VP08158 (expire 11/30/15)

$9 off any ride over $90 - Key Code VP05159 (expire 9/30/2015) or VP08158 (expire 11/30/15)

Carmel's discount (valid thru 12/31/2015)

$3 off any trip Going to the Airport (except 3 - 7 PM) - Key Code 55

$4 off any Airport pickup - Key Code 56

$5 off any Out of Town Trip above $60 - Key Code 57

** Ask for the validation code, print out the coupon online & fill that in and hand it to the driver

Carmel is smaller compared to Dial7, if I recall, and has "only" about 600+ vehicles & drivers in their fleet with garages/bases and "staging" area where their fleet is ready to roll. Here's my insider's tip for using Carmel's app for an easy lookup, you can click the APP or online, select the piers (Manhattan or Liberty) from within the NYC - Manhattan's list of Hotels (it's there as a short cut :D) so you don't have to find the full addresses for the port, then put in your destination hotel or airport - bingo, prices will be shown in a matter of seconds & if mobile and GPS/location enabled, show you the next/nearest available vehicle & ETA to pickup, if you want it on the spot.

Excellent idea, and I think you will be pleasantly surprised. Please let us know how it works out for you.

First, thank you and to other New Yorkers who have written with information, suggestions and advice.

I have spent way too long on the computer checking all the various car services including Go Airlink. The more I check the more confusing it becomes. All have read both positive and negative reviews documented so at this point I feel I will stick with Go Airlink as all the arrangements have been made and paid for, I have my prepaid voucher in hand and have confirmed all the details with the company. This may end up badly, as some have forewarned, but according to the reviews I could be in the same position with any of the other major providers. I will hope for the best but I am prepared for the worst such as the driver not showing up, coming late, taking to long to reach LGA in order to catch our flight and also the possibility of missing our flights and having to rebook new flights at additional costs. Obviously allot can go wrong, but I have read all of these happening with the other carriers also! Fingers crossed for sure.

This is our 25th cruise and I must say that this has been the most time I have spent with the post cruise arrangements and also worrying about all the things that might go wrong. Time to start thinking of the enjoyment to come on the cruise and not let it overshadow what may or may not happen after we disembark.

Everyone's time spent to respond are greatly appreciated.

I am booking transfer for Nov. 4 from Cape Liberty to LGA post Anthem cruise. I have been quoted $77.00 from Caramel Limos but the booking page state that tolls etc. are not included.

How much can we expect those 'extras' to add?

The answer is that it depends on the day of the week, the time, and the route taken. The toll from NJ to NY is currently $14, but there are EZ pass discounts which should be passed along to you. http://www.panynj.gov/bridges-tunnels/tolls.html

If you go via the Midtown Tunnel or the RFK Bridge to Queens the toll is $8, but there are also EZ pass discounts - http://web.mta.info/bandt/traffic/btmain.html

If you go to Queens via the Brooklyn, Manhattan, Williamsburg, or 59th Street Bridge, there is no toll.

The best thing to do is ask the limo company what they charge for these tolls. Plan for a 18-20% tip, so you're looking at a total of $100+.
