Swimsuit cover ups

Recommended Posts

I'm looking for some help.

We're booked on the Island Princess Panama Canal cruise in Feb 2016 and it will be only our second cruise.

Our first was to Alaska so we never wore swimsuits, but I'm wondering whether ladies can wear cover-ups and flip flops around the ship or should I wear a dress or shorts. I would always dress to eat of course, or go to any daytime activity - I'm really thinking of getting from my cabin to the pool.

Thanks for any advice - or any other tips for cruising in a hot climate.

Going from cabin to pool, or to the buffet (if the cover up is opaque and not see-thru), is fine! I don't think I'd wear the cover up to go to the casino or bingo, etc...but to and from the pool and the buffet is what most will be doing.

Shorts/tees/flip-flops are fine for the other public spaces during the daytime!

Bring a hat or visor...that sun reflecting off all that water is bright!!!! Sunglasses are not enough!! In Panama, it's hot enough to go inside periodically to cool off...VERY HOT and HUMID!

I agree...your cover-up, especially if it covers your bum (standing or bending), should be fine just to go to pool, spa, Jacuzzi and buffet. Anywhere else...throw on a pair of shorts or Capris with the cover-up and you're good to go.

Hope you have an awesome cruise!:D

Depends what type of cover up you wear.

If it is a pareo tied at the waist, I wouldn't think you want to roam the ship wearing a bikini bra top, bare stomach and wrapped pareo at waist.

If you wear one of the t shirt styles that go to or a little above the knee over a dry swimsuit, you probably would be okay going into one of the shops or walking around but I don't think that's okay for MDR for lunch or any of the restaurants except the buffet.
