Sorry the first one did not work, here is a link to my dress http://www.davidsbridal.com/bridal_gowns_detail.jsp?stid=1588&prodgroup=10 I wish I could find a picture of my shoes. They are so pretty, I had never saw anything comparable to them. Believe it or not I got them at JcPenney's during like prom season. I think I only paid like $30 for them.

If your ladies weddings are around prom season you can look at like Penney's, and Dillards theyhad really great deals on shoes. I will keep looking for a picture in the mean time.

Rara, depending on when your wedding is, I'd check out catalogs when they start to come out with their spring and summer stuff: JC Penney, Newport News, etc. Then you're guaranteed to get the right sizes, as opposed to a store that might not have everyone's size. On first glance, I found these, which I think is basically what you're talking about:

http://www.newport-news.com/shop/Product.asp?gpcatID=2&pacatID=1649&subcatID=1686&catid=6379&superstyleID=218662&productindex=20&firstpagetypeid=&pageindex=12

http://www3.jcpenney.com/jcp/Products.aspx?DeptID=597&CatID=31578&CatTyp=LFS&ItemTyp=G&GrpTyp=PRD&ItemID=0d58ec2&ProdSeq=6&Cat=rehearsal+night&Dep=&PCat=&PCatID=31576&RefPage=ProductList&Sale=&ProdCount=27&RecPtr=&ShowMenu=&TTYP=&ShopBy=0&RefPageName=CategoryAll%252Easpx&RefCatID=31576&RefDeptID=597

Not sure what color you're thinking about.. but is that basically what you're thinking? I'll keep an eye out...

Oh! I ordered my veil off of ebay, from the seller Valuveil:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=8216686350&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&rd=1

I just hope the color is right. As far as I can tell, my dress is Diamond White. We'll see !

Yes, these are the types of things I am looking for. Thanks, I appreciate it. I am not picking a color so I can keep my options open for finding dresses I like. I think I want a print dress as long as it is tasteful. We are all going barefoot and I am searching for Foot Jewlry for myself as an alternatve to shoes...can't see me sinking my heels into the sand in fancy shoes.

Rara.

I just had a new shop open up locally and they carry brands that i wasnt familiar with at all and one i had overlooked.

Raylia is the one I hadn't heard of.. and I think most of the dresses are about$200. http://www.rayliadesigns.com/

and the other was bari-jay which I just had negative ideas about..until I saw this dress. http://www.barijay.com/style.php?showid=57&PHPSESSID=c37e2a4517cac7e41cc9d897e5c976e6

Maybe maybe not.. just thought it might compliment your style nicely.

Anyway I really liked the Raylia's because of the vibrant colors that they had. They were more fun and less church.

Good Luck. :)

Rara0508,

Have you found bridesmaid dresses yet??? I just got an email from Newport news - they have this new section on their site called "What to wear to a wedding"

http://www.newport-news.com/shop/wedding.asp?gpcatID=6830&pacatID=6830&catID=6833

I especially like this one: http://www.newport-news.com/shop/product.asp?superstyleid=221299&gpcatid=6830&pacatid=6830&subcatid=&catid=6836

only $59!!! What a steal for a bridesmaid dress. It seems like it would be pretty universally flattering as well. (Maybe those that think it's too low-cut can wear a little lacy cami underneath or something.)

First of all - Thank you to whoever broght this thread back to life!

I am 6'0" and my groom is 5'7" (yeah - a little bit of a difference, huh?) Anyway, I am debating whether to get a tea length, informal gown and find cute flat shoes in a size 11 (which is next to impossible) or just go with a long, informal gown and hide my bare feet. (FYI...We are getting married on the ship.)

My heart is set on a tea length gown, but I am having a terrible time finding cute, bride appropriate, flat soes in my gigantic shoe size. I have thought about very nice flip-flops, but I make way too much noise when I walk in them. I am not into the whole ballerina slipper thing, either. Ugh!

Help!! Any suggestions/opinions would be greatly appreciated!

Have you seen the foot jewelry? It is sooo pretty. I found it on a website for wedding in the keys. (we were thinkingof that before we settled on a cruise wedding) I am a bit taller than my FI and was thinking of it. Basically it wraps around your big toe and then runs along to top of your foot and then around your ankle. Very classy alternative to bare feet. Lots of different styles, too. I will try to find the website and post it.

I called and ordered this dress on a Thursday afternoon and had it the following Monday! The price and shipping were great and so was the fit! I found a gorgeous pearl/rhinestone tiara and matching choker and earrings at Silver Gallery for a total of $27.80!!!!;)

This is the dress for my September beach wedding in St. Thomas ( I know, I know Hurricane season- praying mother nature lets me wear it!):D

I am using Cheryl Toner as a wedding coordinator and wouldn't have it any other way. She's been great!

Hey, I have the same problem w/ my feet. There's no question about it, you will have to order them. I find going from shop to shop, extremely frustrating because they NEVER have my size in what you're looking for, especially if I'm looking for flats. It's funny because if you wear a size 11, you're probably already tall, yet most of the shoes in stores in that size come with at least 3" heels. I'm not sure what your taste is but I will recommend you visit zappos.com or shoes.com. If you're not into namebrands, payless.com or beallsflorida.com are also good but they will have even less of your already limited variety. I found the knock-offs of my bridal shoes at payless for 29.99 when they were everywhere else for 69.99. Of course, I had to order them with free in-store shipping because I couldn't find them in stores. If you have time on your hands to look through pages upon pages, amazon.com is also a good resource & you can shop by price range. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the websites. I will be sure to check them out. I actually bought a pair from Payless this past weekend - just in case I could not find exactly what I was looking for. I really appreciate your help (as well as the sugestions from justagirl and KirbyCruiser).

Here is what Ms. Spontaneous is wearing. Wedding dress was purchased 12/05 for a 4/30/07 wedding. I am rubbing off on her. I just hope it is not too hot for her. We are taking a 50' Sea Ray to the beach side wedding site. It should have AC. Will have a mini reception on the boat afterwards. Is it 2007 yet?

If you live around Chicago, you can snap a costly designer gown for 30-50% less than retail price. Goto: http://www.whitechicago.com

They mostly carry sample dresses, which means they have never been worn. I bought a Lazaro. gown from them for 30% off and had a halter strap put on it. It was a sample. This is the picture of it from the Lazaro Bridal site: http://www.lazarobridal.com/laz_b/display_dress.php?imageno=5533&multimatch=x

They work with the seamstress who cares for Ultimate Bridal (one of the *priciest" bridal shops in Chicago). Her alterations are *not* cheap, but she has a good rep.

I found some sites that may be useful for brides-to-be.

BTW, since the cost of gowns is steep...compared to daily use / social clothing, I considered dresses that were convertible to cocktail gowns. That is how I decided on a lightly decorated, slim fitting ivory gown. It will be used again for social occasions after I have it trimmed to knee length after I return from the wedding cruise.

I also bought another gown at the same resale shop and immediately had it cut to cocktail length, added a beautiful soft crossover-twist strap. It looks spectacular. Designer is Le Spose Di Gio Milano. It is glamorous with its soft shimmering crystals and soft floaty fabric. I plan to use it on the 2nd formal night of the cruise..
