Pearl-where to stay in Seattle

We will be taking our first cruise (Pearl to Alaska) in June 2016. Looking for a clean inexpensive hotel to stay in Seattle the day before departure. We will need 9 rooms. Any suggestions?

Check port of calls message boards. I hope this link works for you with all of the recent threads for Seattle Hotels. We stayed at the Red Lion. It is centrally located and an easy walk to shops, restaurants and the market. You will need to take a cab to the pier.

Your best bet is to stay near the airport. Arrange for a shuttle to take you to the pier. About a 40 minute ride. Everything in down town Seattle, will run about 175.00 per room. Goes up from there. We have lived in Seattle, now about 45 miles from there. Worst place to get around in a car. If you do stay in Seattle, the have the light rail which will take you right to the airport. Access is at Westlake square. Look for that for your hotel locations if you are going to stay on town.

Really depends on how much you want to spend. Hotels outside of central Seattle will be cheaper - as has been suggested, you could go to an airport hotel, then taxi or shuttle in to the pier on embarkation day.

 

If you want real convenience, check out the Seattle Bayfront Marriott, or the Edgewater hotel. The Bayfront Marriott about a block from the pier. You can walk it with your bags. The Edgewater is literally right in front of the bow of the ship when it docks at the pier. Couldn't be any closer unless you slept at the pier.

We stayed here. A bit cheaper, not quite downtown, but very nice we thought. Bus right in front of hotel to downtown. Walk from hotel to Space Needle and Park. Monorail from there if you wish. Hotel called limo service to take us to Pier next morning, about $15 or so I believe. Seattle is proud of their outreach to the homeless and the youthful unemployed. Prepare to have all of the above solicit you for funds.

We stayed at the Hampton Inn downtown - near Space Needle, restaurants and stores. They offer free breakfast and have a very reasonably priced shuttle to take you to the pier.

I like the Super 8 at the airport. Easy to get in/out of Seattle, using buses or light rail.

 

I've packed light, and several times, just walked to board the ship. Taking the light rail to West Lake $3pp.

 

Can give specific directions if needed.

 

Otherwise, there are shuttle buses you could possibly contract for your group.

I agree with the Hampton Inn. Very reasonable and near the Space Needle. Their shuttle to the pier was around $12. (2012). They have a great breakfast included. Coffee and tea all day.

Sorry but you wont find anything 3 star or above for 175 or cheaper when the cruise ships are in . Rates go through the roof. 275 is more like it. We actually looked into it this August for our Pearl cruise. Since we live less than an hour away we thought we could watch for a good price all the way up to the day before but everything was either sold out or even higher than booking way out. You also have to consider some of those hotels that sound inexpensive are inexpensive because they are not in the safest part of the city.

We stayed at Homewood Suites, just a bit NW of downtown and only a $5 cab ride (or easy 1 mile walk) to NCL's pier. The advantage for you here might be that you could get your # rooms down to 4 or 5, depending on how comfortable everyone is with one another, since the 2BR suites can sleep up to 6. It is still going to be spendy if you're thinking of being anywhere near downtown in the summer, though.

The Inn at Virginia Mason (a major hospital) has rooms and suites about $160 to $200. Close to downtown, very comfortable - within walking distance to Pike Place market - coming back is tougher because of uphill.

We're staying at the BW Executel in a few days for our precruise stay. The Hotwire rate was $75/day. Then, I negotiated a deal with Seattle Express for a 20 passenger bus. For $10pp they'll take us to the pier. Can't beat the prices, if you don't mind staying out by the airport. Even then, you can catch the light rail for a couple of bucks to do your exploring.

9 rooms? Ask for a group rate wherever you decide.

We stayed close to the airport. You can Google "Hotels in SeaTac" or do it through Tripadvisor, but you can find hotels with a free shuttle to and from the airport. Most of them can also arrange a shuttle to the pier for about $10 per person, which typically ends up cheaper than one or more taxis.
