north29 Posted September 10, 2015 #51 Share Posted September 10, 2015 I'm sure there will be some posted hours. The web site touts labor savings. I was going to say no need to tip, but the packages get charged tips up front. Look, I just turned this into a tipping thread. :D Not a tipping thread, but another way to eliminate a employee. At least a VERY GOOD BEER but only 8 oz? not enough to wet the mouth on a warm day. I think I will go get one from my Refrigriator.

dbali Posted September 11, 2015 #58 Share Posted September 11, 2015 (edited) What are the beer and wine selections that are offered throughout the day in the coastal kitchen? Specifically on the Allure. Thanks. Edited September 11, 2015 by dbali
TheGinBoy Posted September 11, 2015 #59 Share Posted September 11, 2015 Sounds like a nice idea, shame it's such a crappy beer. Stella is known as 'wife beater' over here in the UK because of the type of people who tend to drink it.

Rare John&LaLa Posted September 11, 2015 #61 Share Posted September 11, 2015 More beer snobs, all are welcome. Personally I think Corona would have been a tropical choice

Big_G Posted September 11, 2015 #64 Share Posted September 11, 2015 Can't wait to kick back at American Social Bar on Las Olas and enjoy the self serve taps the day before our next cruise. I wish Royal would set them up like this.

Big_G Posted September 11, 2015 #66 Share Posted September 11, 2015 How do they charge for it Haven't used them yet. We've been there twice. I felt guilty sitting in the booth with only two of us and the second time we couldn't get near them. It's a great bar especially for beer snobs even if you can't self serve. :D
Mark-Sheffield Posted September 12, 2015 #67 Share Posted September 12, 2015 we're on Indy next year, I wonder if they are rolling it out to other Freedom class ships. My son would be very interested in the self serve !!!
Rare bobmacliberty Posted September 12, 2015 #68 Share Posted September 12, 2015 How do they charge for it They have those in a sports bar near me. They charge by the number of ounces poured.
nelblu Posted September 12, 2015 #69 Share Posted September 12, 2015 Forget the Chalice! Swipe card, place mouth under tap. Pour! have a tube tie [emoji3] Love your thinking. Maybe they can issue those hats that have a tube tied to the beer cans. LOL
jules815 Posted September 12, 2015 Author #70 Share Posted September 12, 2015 Okay, went out this morning to do some research on those tappers. Here are some pictures...In order to use the machine, you must go to a bar, show them you have a drink package, and they issue you a separate Stella card. The cards were in a manilla envelope and they manually took down our info from our sea pass manually onto a sheet of paper. Nothing high tech about that.... jules815 Posted September 12, 2015 Author #71 Share Posted September 12, 2015 (edited) The cards weren't available in the pub out on the Promenade. They sent us up to the Pool Bar and we were able to get the cards there. The cards come pre-punched with a hole for a lanyard. You don't swipe the card, they have an RFID chip, so you tap the front of the machine, above the sign telling you where to get the cards. jules815 Posted September 12, 2015 Author #72 Share Posted September 12, 2015 After tapping the card, we received a message on screen that "the machine is currently off line" Ran up to the Pool Bar to test it there, and all 3 machines are all currently offline. jules815 Posted September 12, 2015 Author #73 Share Posted September 12, 2015 The entire week, I believe I've only seen one person use the machine out on the Promenade. I don't know if they haven't been working, or there isn't much interest this week.

Could be growing pains. I'm sure it will get sorted out. Thanks again for the scoop
