notalandlover Posted October 9, 2015 #1 Share Posted October 9, 2015 I noticed there are a lot more 14 day cruises that are B2B vs non back to back. Is the reason for this fuel costs? For what is worth I would love to see more 14 day cruises that aren't B2B. Does anyone think the cruiselines will add more 14 day non B2B cruises to their future sailings. Rare Keith1010 Posted October 9, 2015 #2 Share Posted October 9, 2015 Some cruise lines have longer cruises. Often luxury lines and also on crossings, but on many lines the demand for a 14 day cruise is far less than a shorter cruise as people don't have the time for such long cruises when you factor in that in addition to the cruise often people fly in a day or more before the cruise. GUT2407 Posted October 9, 2015 #3 Share Posted October 9, 2015 (edited) I suspect it's got a lot to do with how mach annual leave time off work people get in various countries, relatively few 7 day cruises in Australia where 4 weeks annual leave is the norm, whereas in the USA 7 days seems pretty standard. If a large number of PAX can only get 7 days it's easier to sell a cruise as two 7 days than as one 14 days. Krazy Kruizers Posted October 9, 2015 #4 Share Posted October 9, 2015 Many US people can not always get 14 days of vacation at the same time. That is why you see so many 7 day cruises compared to 14 day cruises.
dorisis Posted October 10, 2015 #5 Share Posted October 10, 2015 There are some 9,10,11, day cruises that we prefer to the B2Bs, different menus and shows on those.
ShawninFL Posted October 11, 2015 #6 Share Posted October 11, 2015 We've done a few B2B. A 7+7, a 4+5, and a 7+3. The 7+7 we decided to switch ships; did Navigator to the Western Caribbean the first week and Radiance to the Eastern for the second week. We decided to do it on two ships because we had learned from others on previous cruises doing B2B that all the entertainment was exactly the same as the first week. We were really glad we decided to change ships as the entertainment on the second week was spectacular, probably the best of any ship we've been on. Shmoo here Posted October 11, 2015 #7 Share Posted October 11, 2015 Our first B2B was a 10/14 combo. While the entertainment/menus did repeat for 10 of those days, the itineraries were different (Med/TransAtlantic). And there were plenty of choices on the menu to select two different things if we didn't want to order the same thing we ate 10 days ago. Our second B2B was a 7/7 combo. Again, entertainment and menus were same. Well, the individual entertainers (magician, ventriloquist, comedian) changed between the two cruises, but the itineraries were different. So it didn't seem like so much of the same.
