Hello everyone . . . Today is Cruise day! Welcome to DAY 1 of "LIVE" from Norwegian Getaway I will be leaving my hotel soon (around 10:30 ish). It is only about a 20 min drive to the pier from here. The traffic shouldn’t be bad and I should arrive by 11AM (ish). I don’t want to arrive too early as I have read that some passengers waited outside the terminal because it was too early for passengers inside.

Norwegian Getaway is docked at the eastern portion of the pier (Terminal B/C). She is docked portside today, and we will go west to the turning basin when she leaves. There is a parking garage just to the south of the terminal. The cost is $20/night and should be secure. I had considered using the shuttle from Hyatt, but next week I have to leave early for my drive north to Sanford (AutoTrain). Parking at the terminal will be my best bet.

The weather today will provide a somewhat cloudy day with chances of showers later in the day. The skies seem like a thundershower is imminent but I am hoping that it may at least wait until tonight. I am looking forward to a week of wonderful weather with blue skies and warm temperatures.

Those of you who know me may know that " A man's best friend is a freshly brewed cup of coffee" (according to David Letterman) The coffee is very good here at Hyatt Place, and I was very happy that the Hyatt Place hotel clerk was able to provide me with a nice cup of “We Proudly Serve” Starbucks at 4AM. I may have another cup before I head to the pier.

It's almost time to go. . . Thanks for tuning in.

Here are a few pics from Hyatt Place.

Hello everyone . . . I made it to the terminal by around 11AM, and was on the gangway at 11:30. The check in process went very smooth. We were placed in the Haven waiting area the Terminal area before boarding.

There were refreshments and snacks, but I wasn’t there long enough to enjoy them. Around 11:15AM someone came down to escorted our group directly up to the Haven (Deck 16). The ship is beautiful, and even though I sailed Breakaway last year, I can tell you that this is one beautiful ship, and I will have a lot of images to take for the next seven nights.

I had lunch up in the Haven and the food was very good. The Ultimate Drink Pkg. was included in the fare, so I will not have any worries about having a few Pepsi products this week. I am looking forward to an Illusionarium reservation for tonight after sail away. I have read that the illusions are fantastic . . .

Muster drill is scheduled for 330PM in Getaway Theater (Deck6). Norwegian Getaway should sail for St. Thomas, USVI by 4PM.

Here are a few pics from boarding. . . I have a lot to see this week !

What cabin are you in Radio? We are sailing Getaway 1/17 in an H5 and looking forward to more pictures of your suite and the Haven area. Is John DSouza still concierge? I love your reviews...just the right amount of detail and pictures! Have a great cruise....
