paylayale Posted October 26, 2015 #1 Share Posted October 26, 2015 Anyone have any info on Carnival's Fish n Chips? What kind of fish? I'm from Alaska and have wild sockeye salmon and halibut in the freezer at all times, so I'm a bit of snob. I'll eat Cod, but not Pollock.
joeyancho Posted November 3, 2015 #2 Share Posted November 3, 2015 Don't waste your time. It is extremely greasy and gross. Took one bite, the rest went in the trash.

Never tried those fish fried at all, actually.
Kethry88 Posted November 16, 2015 #5 Share Posted November 16, 2015 Hm, the menu doesn't list what kind of fish it is, and I've never asked. It's some sort of whitefish; it tastes like cod to me. They have quite a few other items there. You can find a menu and some food pictures here.
skeeter195 Posted November 18, 2015 #6 Share Posted November 18, 2015 Halibut is probably the best(and most expensive) fish to make fish and chips with. Salmon on the other hand is something that is quite bad when fried, to oily to start. The oil though makes it fantastic for grilling or broiling. On Carnival it may be cod, but more than likely pollock or some sort of ling.
OCruisers Posted November 18, 2015 #7 Share Posted November 18, 2015 Not fond of the fish but the fried oysters were good. :)
cb at sea Posted December 2, 2015 #8 Share Posted December 2, 2015 Probably haddock or some sort of cheap whitefish.....who knows. It could very well be Pollock...
jtdlmc Posted December 17, 2015 #9 Share Posted December 17, 2015 I love halibut as a battered fish and will eat cod and haddock as well. No idea what the fish is on Carnival that they use for fish n chips but I only had one bite and the remainder went in the garbage.
Mark-da-Shark Posted December 18, 2015 #10 Share Posted December 18, 2015 It is greasy COD. It was ok on the first day of a Freedom cruise but got worse as the cruise went. The best thing in to dine up stairs in a less crowded area. We would visit the buffet and eat at the fish and chips area. Lots of malt vinegar kills the bad taste! Don't waste your stomach room....
