Regal Obstructed Balcony Cruisers Expertise Needed

I'm looking to book a deluxe balcony obstructed cabin on the Regal.

What experiences have fellow cruisers had with these cabins.

 

After spending hours reading cc and looking at pics, I am not sure which one of the following would be best:

E 508,510,518,520

E 507, 509

Would appreciate feedback from anyone who has stayed or seen similar cabins.

We stayed in E617 on the Royal which is a deluxe obstructed view on our April transatlantic crossing. It is located between two lifeboats or tenders. We were able to see quite well and since it was mostly sea days it didn't matter that it was somewhat obstructed. I like this category because the room has a loveseat unlike regular balcony rooms which only has two chairs. We chose E510 for next year.

We stayed in E617 on the Royal which is a deluxe obstructed view on our April transatlantic crossing. It is located between two lifeboats or tenders. We were able to see quite well and since it was mostly sea days it didn't matter that it was somewhat obstructed. I like this category because the room has a loveseat unlike regular balcony rooms which only has two chairs. We chose E510 for next year.

I've stayed there a couple of times. If the ship is moving at top speed it's not comfortable sitting out there. Door never locked. IMO they're great for the Caribbean but not sure I'd want one for a transatlantic

hi theo. was reading through this thread and found your link. we are traveling on the Regal next month in Caribe 519. when i look at it on your website...it has a red dot next to the cabin #....after looking around or a bit....i could not find anything to tell me what the red dot means...do you know?

hi theo. was reading through this thread and found your link. we are traveling on the Regal next month in Caribe 519. when i look at it on your website...it has a red dot next to the cabin #....after looking around or a bit....i could not find anything to tell me what the red dot means...do you know?

It's a quad cabin with 2 extra "bunk" beds up in the ceiling that can optionally be pulled down and used.

I just booked on Regal and had to ask for no upgrade. The reason is if I was upgraded it would be to an obstructed Deluxe Balcony. Princess told my TA that the obstructed balcony cannot be used during sea days. That makes no sense to me as I like to relax on balcony and read on sea days.

You must be referring to the forward facing obstructed view balconies. That's how Princess marks those balconies. However, all reports here have been that access to the balconies are NOT restricted. In theory, they could be. My sense is that Princess lists them this way so that if they ever need to restrict access due to high wind, or someone finds them unusable, people have been warned- i.e. it gives Princess a defense against complaints.

Just returned from cabin E515. Nice cabin if there are only 2 people. The couch is right next to the window. Once it is opened up as a bed, no access to the refrigerator, desk or chair for desk. You would also have to climb over the bed to open the balcony door. Or, fold up the bed. Not the greatest arrangement.

 

Best part of cabin E515 is the proximity to the elevators. Also easy to get to the front or back of the ship since is is just a little back from actual midship.

:) We enjoyed cruising in Cabin E425 on the Regal last year from Venice to FLL. Cabins 409-425 (and ones on other side) are one of the "hidden secrets" of the Regal and Royal. Absolutely no obstructions out to sea, no view from the sky walk into your balcony and a balcony that is much larger most all others. The upper level balconies under the sky walk are very visible to those looking down through the glass, but the balconies on the two lowest levels are totally hidden.

 

Here is a link to some photos of the E425 balcony and its views, plus view from the deck 7 below and views from the skywalk(that we took when on the Royal in 2013).

 

These obstructed view cabins are indeed a GOOD CHOICE that you will certainly enjoy and indeed a GREAT VALUE balcony cabin.

Long time lurker, first time poster :). What was the view like from E515 - Is it the typical obstructed lifeboat view? I haven't seen anyone posting about E515 or the cabins around it. We have E516 booked on the Regal in December.

We were in E437 on the Royal for the British Isles cruise. Good location, balcony is slightly larger due to the angle. Plenty of room for storage.

 

We are on the Regal in December and booked the adjacent room, E433, slightly larger balcony due to its being squared off.

 

Is there a category called mini-obstruction? Seriously, we thought this room was a great value

Thank you SO much! With the new photos posted recently I was able to see that E525 has the bigger boats and moved over to E526 which has the shorter boats, allowing you a better view. Love cruise critic!

Does E515 have a good view or is it predominately blocked by the life boats.  I’m trying to pick a minimally blocked view forma deluxe balcony obstructed (DW) category.  Or would it be better to go with 509 or 510?

Thank you!  We booked a very inexpensive inside (casino rate), bid $35 pp, for an upgrade, and won the bid. We were assigned E517.  We used the link to see a photo of the cabin and are very pleased - definitely worth $35 pp just for the natural light.
