Blended Family Honeymoon on Allure of the Seas

Greetings!

I'll be reading the first time cruiser threads thoroughly, but wanted to throw a somewhat general question out here too!

We are a blended family of 6. We have a 15 yo girl and 13, 12 and 10 yo boys, cruising for the first time on the Nov 8, 2015, embarkation on Allure of the Seas with RCCI. It's our family honeymoon (getting married Nov 6) and we want to make the most of our cruise experience!

Any tips for getting the most of our week? Can we expect any little perks for being newlyweds?

TIA!

Jasmine

Hey Jasmine, November 6th is our wedding anniversary, so an extra special congratulations from us to you!

Allure is an absolutely wonderful experience! One of the best cruises we've ever taken. With that said, one week is not nearly enough to do everything. So don't try to! Allow yourself some time to relax and do nothing. Set aside some time to be a family but make sure that you also set aside some time to be a couple. Some of the best memories that we have from the Allure come from just quietly relaxing at the Solarium at night after dinner while the kids went to Adventure Ocean. By the way, the kids program is fantastic so they'll have plenty of age appropriate activities to keep them busy as well.

Once again, congratulations and have a wonderful time.

One of your potential problems is going to be "communication". By that I mean it might be difficult to know where everyone is all the time. Perhaps buy some magnetic erase boards (the doors are metal) so you can leave a note on the outside of the kids rooms to coordinate things and they can leave a message about themselves. Other people can suggest other things. Bottom line---YOU HAVE PICKED A FABULOUS SHIP--I DO NOT THINK YOU HAVE EVER BEEN SUROUNDED BY SUCH LUXURY IN YOUR LIFE. You do not have to spend a lot of money on shore excursions if you want--the ship is an excursion in itself. Congratulations on the marriage and have a great honeymoon.

Other thoughts:

Do not bring a hair dryer--it will not work--use the ship dryer.

Makes the kids use hand sanitizer constantly--there are 6000 "germ factories" on the ship.

Buy a bunch of flameless "tea lights" (battery powered) and use them for nightlights in each room.

Just curious as to why a hair dryer wont work. We always take ours and have had no problems:confused:

you cannot plug a hair dryer in to any of the sockets in the bathroom.. which is why the ship provided one is in the desk drawer.

and yes bring your own if you want.. the ship one is a low wattage and you must hold the button down to keep it running

Bathroom socket only for shaver. RC hairdry isn't good. Bring your own and plug in by vanity desk in statroom.
