Chips, or lack thereof

I'm a new cruiser (1 cruise, next one booked!) but I'm wondering why I didn't see any potato / tortilla chips on board. Or...did I just miss them? I'd much rather have had chips in place of fries/potato wedges, or just as a snack. I'm SURE there is a reason...

I'm betting space might be a concern. Storing tons of bags of chips would take up huge amounts of space and they are fragile. If they get squished, folks will complain about getting bags of crumbs!

Most ships seem to have cans of Pringles in the store. Overpriced but when you need some crunchy. :) We bring a couple of cans with us.

It's not like we eat 'em every day, but it's a quick snack that could easily be kept (in the bag) in your room for an attack of the munchies. And I'm sure there would be complaints of the chips weren't in pristine condition!

There are nacho chips available in the Windjammer at 3:30pm for afternoon snacks (on Voyager and Freedom class, not sure about the others)

I always buy a few cans of Pringles to take with me, they are re-sealable and since I buy them at the port city, I just put them in my carry on.

We have missed the bar snacks on the ships. Your getting drinks and it would be nice to have some salty snacks. I bring a big ziploc bag of snack mix. Put some in smaller ziploc bag and head out for the night. A lot of folks ask where we got the snacks and we let them know we brought from home. We share with others if we have plenty.

Ah! Good to know! Didn't ever visit the WJ after breakfast, so I never knew that!! Thanks!

I've seen Pringles in the General Store.

On Liberty last week, we asked for bar snacks, and the bar tender gave us a tall glassful of cocktail nuts.

potato chips are only available prepackaged in those venues that offer them, such as the Park Cafe.

or you can spend way too much money on stale Pringles form the ship's store/.

if you want them bring your own

It's funny that you mention this, we were on the Navigator two weeks ago and noticed the same thing. It was either my wife or granddaughter that had a craving for chips, and there were none to be found! We didn't think of calling room service.

I would guess it has to do primarily with recycling/handling, and size. At least that is why you don't see them in the buffet. The bags that these come in whether individual sizes or larger are mostly air and that takes up a lot of room.
