Luminae Breakfast & Lunch Hours?

Unless you are leaving tomorrow, don't even bother asking these questions. The answer seems to change by the day and by the ship.

My apologies. I thought that there might be a general rule of some sort. I don't know what leaving on a Wednesday in November would have to do with it, but thanks for answering.

I think what Jenniebnyc was try to express was that the story is changing.

On Eclipse in September (I think) brunch was reintroduced and then Celebrity reported BLD was being reintroduced.

Then there has been another thread saying that there will be no lunches on port days..(Silhouette?)

Possibility of free lunch at El Bachio?

With future cruises booked I continue to watch with interest....

The cruiseline continues to change what meals (B,L,D) they serve and what times they are opened to serve such meals. Over the past 6/7 months it has changed...brunch instead of breakfast and lunch, then back to breakfast and lunch, now no lunch on port days...and the times seem to change depending on the ship and who is in charge and what passenger yells loud enough. Sorry to come off harsh, but it's the truth. Maybe someone else has exact details to provide. I just can't keep up with the changes, what is official, what is not....and even when it is official is not official any longer. We heard from the CEO on this topic and it seems she has even gone back on her word from only a few months ago. It is the most insane thing I have ever witnessed. Good luck!! :))

It's just that there are a lot of threads on this subject that can be found my using the search engine. Believe it or not, its a controversial issue and no one answer fits all ships, itineraries, etc.

Have a great cruise and do enjoy Luminae! ;)

I found the "Luminae, Anticipation Met with Disappointment" thread as well as some others.

I thought that something along the line of "Breakfast is 7-9 on Sea Days, 6:30-8:30 on Port Days" or something like that might be the norm. Using the search function didn't really yield a consistent answer. The results kind of give the impression that the Luminae schedule is based on some sort of lucky astrology mood ring or something. I only asked because I just don't see Celebrity "winging it" with their suite restaurant schedule. However, if that's what they do, then we'll have to work around it.

You are spot on! A combo of astrology and winging it is their way of recent! Keep us posted on your experience after your cruise!

Yes, please do keep us posted if possible. Last time on summit, the times were different from the dailies. Somehow lunch was misplaced and Brunch appeared. Have a great cruise!

I'm hoping they lose lunch again on the 14th of this month and find brunch. Maybe I can hide it? From what I've seen here, the brunch menu looks much larger and more diverse which would be better if you will be eating off of the same menu all week. More importantly to me, imho the hours are much more friendly for one relaxing on vacation.

I loved brunch, its just that there is then no early breakfast option, not everyone wants a feast, they want their breakfast in the morning. I think the hours are a bit rigid. I get it rules are rules, but its not luxurious.

Maybe a high quality room service would assist in satisfaction.

I think it is a budget mood ring.

It has become apparent that the ships have some flexibility with the hours. It is also apparent that =X= is going back on their commitment (here, CEO, and in writing) to provide breakfast, lunch and dinner in Luminae. Yes they have recently revised some of the wording on the web site.

For me the issue of Lunch is not all that important. What is important, is I do not like to be mislead (I'm being gentle here). If you promise something, deliver. If you want to change something, make it effective someday in the future that is beyond the final payment date (and make some sort of option available for those in other countries) so pax have the option to cancel, or change to a different category stateroom, without penalty.

So you want me to spend money in the casino until the wee hours but not feed me breakfast after 9am...oh and no lunch either if we are in port? Got it.

X - seriously, if you are removing lunch on port days, it is in the best interest of you and your suite passengers to extend breakfast until 10:30. AND add Luminae to room service for breakfast and lunch. Bo5 is not a suitable option and as I have mentioned on other threads... NOT GOOD. The food is subpar. Are you planning on serving lobster rolls and filet in Bo5 now?

I am going to assume a few things about lunch in Luminae and why there has not been a big turn out:

1. You are only open for 60 minutes. This is not very accommodating to your suite passengers especially when you rolled it out overseas on port intensive routes.

Suggestion: Stay open longer, especially on carribean routes where many of us do not get off the ship. I don't get off the ship. Why do I need to rush to lunch bc you are only open for 60 minutes? I am already stresses thinking about it.

2. Your menu is limited and has things like filet mignon and cassoulet which are very heavy meals.

Suggestion: More "lunch" options...salads, sandwiches, soups and gear it to the itinerary. I will not be ordering cassoulet for lunch while I am in the carribean. Think "elevated Aqua Spa". This is what I would prefer. and cut down on the portion sizes if you are looking to penny pinch. this is lunch not dinner.

Another option is to have a nice buffet for lunch IN Luminae. Yes, you will have to staff up somewhat, but you do not need a top chef to provide guests soups, salads and sandwiches. These items can be made in the morning. Guests can serve themselves and have an asst waiter or bus person offer drinks and clear plates.

Overall:

Rethink what you are doing. I am definitely rethinking future cruises. Though not in the same category as X, I will be on Regent and Azamara in 2017 and will probably stay over there seeing these randomly abrupt changes that take place at the drop of a hat with no communication or false communication to the customer. Really, who do you think you are?

I've decided to look on the bright side and put a positive spin on Luminae's ever changing hours. If enough passengers get tired of the games then they will either go elsewhere, or book below a suite. When that happens, cruise fares will drop for us diehards. :)

I do like the idea of a Luminae buffet lunch with soup, salad and a few other goodies.....

How hard could it be to have a hot soup and then a cold selection...

A couple of waiters to clear tables, refresh the buffet if busier than expected.

Much as I thought the lunchtime menus were interesting only having two was a drawback and you do not want to fill up too much at lunch.

See what happens when you ask a simple question? LOL

I guess, but it really is disappointing. Our cruise is in the Caribbean and we were planning to "make our own sea days" by staying on board in some of the ports we've been to over and over.

Are the up-charge restaurants open for lunch on port days, or do they close too?

Based off of the Celebrity Infinity, Oct. 29 - Western Caribbean Cruise

Luminae Hours:

Breakfast: 7:30am to 9 am

Lunch: 12 (noon) to 1:30pm on sea days only. On port days Luminae is closed for lunch, but the assistant maitre d told us that lunch at Bistro on 5 was complementary when Luminae is closed.

Dinner: 6:00pm to 9:30pm

As a number of people have said, your milage of this information will vary but I hope this helps.

Jon
