lovestx Posted November 20, 2015 #1 Share Posted November 20, 2015 Perhaps others already knew this but we learned from a Blu waiter last night that the waiters get "points" for referring guests to specialty restaurants. We and our friends had eaten at Tuscan, silk harvest and bistro on 5 and when our favorite waiter learned that we had gone there, he was disappointed that we hadn't let him get credit for referring us. Thought others who were unaware of this policy would want to know. We are very fond of the Celebrity staff and want to do anything to help them out. kenevenpar Posted November 20, 2015 #2 Share Posted November 20, 2015 Do they have to make the reservation for you to get credit? Or do you just mention their name when reserving?
Rare ghstudio Posted November 20, 2015 #3 Share Posted November 20, 2015 I think this probably applies to those who man the tables around the ship where they try to sell the specialty restaurants.

I regret that I didn't ask that question. Perhaps others will know.

I'm sure that's true but the person who told us was Blu waiter.
WEGL81 Posted November 20, 2015 #6 Share Posted November 20, 2015 In our case, our Blu waiter indicated he could get us a 30% discount on SS United States on Infinity. When we said yes, he brought over the Blu Maitre'D and he was the one who booked us. So the waiter did get credit for referring us, but the Maitre'D actually booked it for us. By the way, our Blu waiter also mentioned that the waiters were told to offer 20-30% discounts, so be nice to your waiter and they might offer a higher discount (we got 30% :))
Rare Hlitner Posted November 20, 2015 #7 Share Posted November 20, 2015 (edited) Ahhh, When we dine in a specialty restaurant we negotiate a price with the Maitre'd of that restaurant (sometimes can get them down to about half price). So it might be interesting to ask your waiter of the Blu Maitre's can they get you in a certain restaurant for half price. Jimbo59 Posted November 20, 2015 #8 Share Posted November 20, 2015 The staff may get credit, but if you book directly you can ask for a discount. I received 30% off at Murano and the Lawn Club Grill. Some others received 50% off. Depends on day of week and how many others have reserved.

Rare uktog Posted November 20, 2015 #11 Share Posted November 20, 2015 WOW! That's like the Covered Bazaar in Istanbul. Indeed, I'm not sure I want the waiters who are more and more stretched time wise having to devote time to talk to guests about speciality offers....especially if they get into a situation where they have a guest who is swithering so they spend extra time trying to "sell"
dmk Posted November 20, 2015 #12 Share Posted November 20, 2015 I believe that the bartenders also receive credits if you buy a drink package from them while onboard.
CruiserRob Posted November 20, 2015 #13 Share Posted November 20, 2015 I believe that the bartenders also receive credits if you buy a drink package from them while onboard. That's why we upgrade our classic package at the Martini bar, where we know we'll spend a lot of time :D
