Celebrity Suites. Pay more. Get less?

Can anybody please explain to me in simple terms what has happened to CS in the revamp? We are in one soon and it seems we pay more but get less?

It all depends on what they are offering on your specific cruise. The biggest change is access to Michaels Club with free premium beverages, munchies, and a quiet place to relax during the day. They also often have live music too.

As to paying more it all depends on the cruise. Most Australian based cruises are sold out and thus the law of supply and demand makes cabins cost more. FWIW have seen some large drops immediately following final payment date as sometime get a slew of people canceling.

It looks like they are now dropping the specialty restaurant dinners.

We did not receive the upgraded bath products the last time we were in a CS.

The butler said they did not have them.

Also, we did not initially have the reclining deck chairs or footstools on our balcony and needed to request them.

We did not receive the nice tote bag automatically as provided in the past, but needed to ask for it as well.

The towels were exactly the same kind of white towels we had the previous cruise in a regular balcony cabin, but they were fine for us, so we did not say anything about the towels.

The only change that I have seen for Michael's Club is the limited menu that was posted here.

Oh, they did not have the special roped off section for suite passengers in the theater on chic night, but we did not care as we never sat there anyway, preferring to sit elsewhere.

(Don't know if that so called "perk" has been discontinued, or if it was only an oversight that night.)

What ship was this on? It makes me cranky thinking that I'm going to have to have a list of "what should be there" and then ask for it all.

We got the tote bag, very plush towels and the balcony furniture was as it should have been on the reflection. We didn't go to the theater on formal nights ( just before the dress code change) but our butler checked with us on every formal night and told us he would be at the theater before the show to escort to our seats should we decide to see the show.

Suites also have their own semi-private restaurant. Thus the removal of the specialty restaurant.

I just booked the Equinox for March 25th, S2, and it said in the benefits 2 specialty reservations (10 night cruise).

Michaels Club for Celebrity Suites is not new or a change. It is new for Sky Suites who are now allowed entry as any other suite.

The changes are--- they are apparently dropping the free speciality night(s) for dinner for CS and SS guests. It sounds like they have not removed from their website so not sure when that is happening.

You now get bottled water on embarkation. whoopeee

All suites above CS, including the Signature Suite, get booze, soda water in the room. Champagne upon arrival in the room. Perrier Jouet. Unlimited specialty dining and premium beverage package. Some other perks apply too.

So the deal is this, SS gets more---entrance to MC where you can drink whatever you want and eat apps, have continental breakfast, coffee, tea, water, soda, you name it. They are possibly dropping the one/two free specialty dinner. They get water on embarkation.

Signature suite now gets more with premium booze package and unlimited specialty dining and champagne.

Celebrity Suite gets nada....oh wait, we get water when we get in the ship and possible removal of our one/two free specialty dinners. yay!

I will be in a CS in 2 weeks and will let you know how it goes. I am really hoping for a good trip!

Do have a good trip. I know its more challenging when benefits change but above all don't let the little matters steal your vacation. You can hash those out when you return. ;)

absolutely! my TA will be on my cruise too, so that always helps. can't wait!

Since suites have a"specialty" restaurant that would cost non-suite friends and family $50, I'm confused why the complimentary night was removed.

It is not a complaint, just trying to understand if the charge is $50 for Luminaire, why that cost couldn't offset at least one night at the other specialty restaurants.

The change will not make any difference to us. We have better toiletries, Michael's and Luminaire. I Think it is a fair trade-off.

I hope the toiletries issue was because of change over coordination issue and not an ongoing issue.

The specialities are not showing here http://www.celebritycruises.com/htmlpage/celebrity-suite-class

But the free specialty dining for Sky & Celebrity Suites does come up on the booking page where you select the suite you want for the recently released cruises.

"One complimentary dinner in a specialty restaurant for all guests in suite (cruise of 6 or 7 nights) and two complimentary dinners for all guests in suite (cruise of 8 nights or more)"

I think Celebrity have made it quite clear when you still get the extra specialities over the past few months irrespective of what the web site says. They are no longer advertising it on the Suites page. I certainly would not expect these for any new bookings but I do expect it for the cruises I had already booked in Feb/Mar 17.

On our most recent trip (TA on Reflection from Rome to Miami) MC was open to CS and higher (i.e. not Sky Suites) but Luminae was open to all. We were in a Signature Suite. Luminae was, in the opinion of everyone we spoke to MC, was an unmitigated disaster. Since it was their only "exclusive' perk the SS guests (60+) totally overwhelmed what was supposed to be a more upscale dining experience (thus less of a need for a Specialty Restaurant perk). SS guests were ordering lattes/cappucino's/etc. that the server had to go to Cafe Al Bacio (2 decks up) to get. Meanwhile we sat and waited and waited and finally got up and walked out.

If the same thing happens in Luminae and MC on our upcoming cruise on Millenium from Sydney to Honolulu we are going to cancel the 5 other cruises we have booked an look elsewhere. Why pay more when you get nothing?

Luminaries was built for all suites, if it was overwhelmed then there was a staff problem.

There were limits to what they get at Al Bacio on our last Luminae experience. Maybe for that reason. I am sorry that happened to you on your cruise russg140, most of the time we do not hear of this type of issue there.

I was sorry to see the amenity gone.

I was not on your particular cruise, but I can assure you without any reservations that the Luminae was an unmitigated success according to everyone we spoke to. This was on the Silhouette and now the Eclipse.

On both of these ships the Luminae servers go to the passport bar where there is a machine.

All suite guests should be able to get a latte or other coffee if they wish. They need their own machine in Luminae. I don`t think that is too much to ask.

See above it is really close. Just out the door to the passport bar.

I know many are lamenting the loss of the specialty restaurant dinner previously included with the suites, but to be honest, our experiences in Luminae were so good that I regretted having two dinners in specialty restaurants, which were fine, but not as good as Luminae. This was in May on the Summit.
