Quick question- Im traveling with my 3 & 6 year old on Conquest next week and had a question regarding the pool area. I realize there is an adult only area, and the pool in the middle is normally full of drunk passengers...what other options are there to take the kids swimming? IS the pool near the water slide an option?

My kids did not like Camp Carnival on our past cruise and unless they meet some friends thats not going to be an option on this one either.

Thanks in advance!

There is the small children's pool, but the other pools are all going to have adults who are consuming alcoholic beverages in them, so if drinking is a eal breaker you are stuck with the tiny children's pool area.

Thanks for the info, this is the first time I have read that the middle pool on the conquest is filled with drunk passengers. Other ships I have been on, don't seem to have this. Must be something about the conquest middle pool that attracts drunks

I was on the Conquest a few weeks ago with my 3 year old. He didn't use the pools as he's not fully potty trained yet, but we hung out around the main pool a bit during the day. The times we were there we didn't notice any obviously drunk people and, in fact, there were almost exclusively kids in the pool (and we were on a sailing without many kids). I think your kids would be just fine using the main pool.

If you're interested, I wrote a full photo review of our Conquest sailing from the perspective of my 3 year old son (so it has lots of tips for sailing with kids). The link is in my signature if you're interested. My son loved the Conquest. Enjoy! :D

I am on the Conquest right now.

There is no kiddie pool.

The two pools mid ship have families around them. The pool by the water slide is deep. Too deep for small children. Parents absolutely must be with them. Most kids had water wing type things on, even then they must be in with their parents.

The main pool does have some tipsy people in it, just like any other ship. So do the other two pools.

It has been a wonderful week! Great weather, fabulous crew and staff. You will have. Blast!

Agree with the above. The two pools mid ship have lots of families. I travelled with a 3 and 7 year old, and did not have any issue. As mentioned, parents must be with them in the water.

Sorry to hear your children did not enjoy camp ocean - We put them in for 1 hour at a time here and there, and they had a blast. Good staff on the Conquest right now. (Jan.17 2016 sailing)

No issues with tipsy people - most people are just having a good time, or walking sideways with the waves ;)

  • 3 months later...

I am travelling with my family on July 7 thru July 11 in Conquest. I have two daughters of 11 and 7 years of age. I planning to book a balcony room. I wanted to can we leave the kids in the kids Play area (not pool) alone so that me and my wife get some private moments. Also I read there are some X Rated late night shows. Is it safe to leave the kids in room few hours so that we can attend. Also please provide me valuable suggestions as I am cruising first time with my kids. I would need to some help on getting the booking right room to get some privacy for my wife my self. This is our 15th anniversary..

Appreciate all your help.

Why not leave your kids at the kid camp so they are supervised instead of alone on the ship. Remember this is essentially a floating city and not everyone is a good person. It's not hard for kids to get separated and a 7yr old sure doesn't need to be wandering the ship alone and no kids need to be left in a balcony room alone at night IMO.

There are plenty of kid supervised activities on the ship and babysitting services available, take advantage of them and congrats on the anniversary.

Thanks for the advice.. So you suggest i can leave the kids in the kid camp. Is this monitored by the crew. As per the cruise rules, can i leave the kids alone if they are sleeping in side the room. Also they are well behaved kids and I can caution them not to open the balcony room.

Also what is the time duration for Kids Camp.

Congratulations on your anniversary! In your case, I would NOT leave the kids alone - there are many options, we have used the Camp and the Night Owls program for 9 years now, my son is now 12. From the start, he would go to camp after dinner and then stay until 12am or 1am with the night owls program. There are sometimes games, sometimes movies but the best part is supervision. The cost after 10pm is 6.00 or so per hour and VERY well worth it.

My son always enjoyed going and this allowed us to go to the casino, the late movie, deck party, comedy clubs or adult shows without worrying about my son. He is now 12 and will go to "camp" again this year, he will ask to go early in the evening now, sometimes will eat dinner with the group, and really enjoy meeting other kids and participating in the activities. He is an only child at home (daughter in college) so he does not get to interact with other kids outside of school, but he has a blast! Go to the orientation the first night and sign the kids up for their respective group and let them enjoy cruising with their peer group - this makes it more fun for you all in the evenings to not worry about their safety.

We usually spend most of the day together as a family but some days, there are activities during the day that my son wants to attend, we always let him, it is his vacation too.

I would not leave them in the room alone even without a balcony. The kids camp is open until about 1am in which most activities are over. Also, camp is free all day as long as there are activities - the charge only starts AFTER 10pm. I always budget for this expense as a part of my vacation because I refuse to leave my son in the room alone on the ship and we usually have oceanview rooms, not balconies.

Your kids age group will have many activities going on all throughout the day so you all can enjoy alone time at dinner or even time around the pool or serenity deck - check the fun times for kids events and they even have their own newsletter for the kids camp each day that shows the activities and times. They have activities in the morning then break for lunch, the activities usually will pick up again about 2pm, and then again at the early dinner time so that parents can have dinner without the kids if they want.

When you drop them off at dinner, they can stay all the way through to the night owls and the camp counselors will usually ask if they are going to participate. It is really a great program.

We don't have kids and have never been on Conquest, but have been on three of her sister ships: Glory, Valor, and Liberty twice. We've noticed that the main pools (mid-ship) are normally full of kids. We've never noticed a problem with the main pools full of drunks.

Those are actually drunk kids.
