opa&oma Posted January 24, 2016 #26 Share Posted January 24, 2016 We are currently on the Reflection as well. First time on Celebrity (usually sail Princess and Holland America) and we are loving it! Beautiful ship and so many outgoing and interesting fellow passengers. We have met numerous genuinely nice people just in the last 6 hours. Luminae was delightful with great service and very tasty dishes. We now know why so many people enjoy this dining venue. The high speed internet is working great! Speed test shows 5 Mbs and it is possible to stream videos and listen to Pandora without any hiccups. It was a great surprise to see that XCellerate was installed and working for this cruise. Best internet we have ever experienced at sea. Can't wait to explore more of the ship tomorrow. What's wrong with you? no complaints!? No doubt you're going to have a wonderful time! Cruising Princess Posted January 24, 2016 #28 Share Posted January 24, 2016 (edited) Glad I'm not the only one who saw something wrong with the food. Now I am not a food snob, but do expect better quality than the pictures represent. First the burger appears to be on the same shore side made bun. Would of been nice to have a different type. The cheese looks like a square of plastic tasting American. This could of been elevated to better option too. The lunch salad does look to have iceberg! And don't get me started on the spring roll which is called something else but is also same as offered in MDR. The caesar salad is so over heated and wilted. The servers obviously didn't care to pick the best available from the galley line ( or if they didn't find any acceptable should of asked the kitchen for one without dressing and served that instead). Well OP I hope you enjoy the food as your paying a premium for it. Please keep sharing your posts. They are truly appreciated and love your honest objective feedback on how things are going. Happy sailing! P.S. The ship might have no shows because of so many flight cancellations from Jonas blizzard we are having here in northeast!! Happy sailing! P.S. The ship might have no shows because of so many flight cancellations from Jonas blizzard we are having here in northeast!! I agree with you. That burger looked one the one I get at a national steakhouse chain based in Florida. And the same for those pommes de terre frites (fries). Looking at the food, I would expect higher grade accompaniments for a restaurant that is being advertised as high end. As for the spring roll, you also just cannot call it a spring roll if eating in a fancy restaurant. Got to call it a 'limpia'. :) It is great news that there is an improved Internet. That should help all of us. There are still many cancellations, even on those non stops to Florida. The nonstop to FLL is again leaving on time. Great news for the cruisers heading down there. beltane Posted January 24, 2016 #30 Share Posted January 24, 2016 Lettuce turns your stomach , now that's a first on me. Yup. Me too. I have IBS-D and have to be VERY careful with foods containing chlorophyll. I can only have a little 'taste' of things like spinach, baby greens, and even the seaweed wraps on sushi or I can end up with a lot of pain and intestinal issues. TMI. Sorry. :( It's a terrible disorder, but once you know your 'triggers' it can be managed quite well.

ecourtney Posted January 24, 2016 #32 Share Posted January 24, 2016 Just got off Celebrity Reflection on Saturday. It's been a nightmare trying to get back to New York but I only have wonderful things to say about the cruise. Not the best weather all week and we unfortunately missed CocoCay, calling in Nassau instead (uneventful rainy day). We had no complaints about the food, except that we felt the Lawn Club Grill was a bit disappointing than expected. As far as the new Xcelerate internet service is concerned, it is a fantastic service that actually works better on your personal devices than at the iLounge on ship! And the free links never worked properly or were too slow (celebritycruises.com, royalcaribbean.com). Hope this helps. Happy to answer any additional questions. gdpups Posted January 24, 2016 #33 Share Posted January 24, 2016 I am also just off the Reflection and as the other poster said we had a wonderful cruise too despite the weather. We had the ultimate dining pkg and had wonderful meals except embarkment day lunch at the Porch. Service was horrible (2 hour lunch), but what was worse by the time we received our entrée my friend's burger was raw in the middle so she had to wait for another. We did the Chef Market Discovery excursion in Jamaica and were joined by the Reflection's executive chef and also Celebrity's Traveling Chef, so we had a great time talking to them. New menus are coming soon and the Bistro on Five, on Reflection, will soon be a sushi/ramen noodle restaurant and the gelato stand will be changed to a NY deli. minidonuts85 Posted January 24, 2016 #34 Share Posted January 24, 2016 Can you find out when the Reflection will roll out the newer, faster internet? I think they are going to call it "xcelleration." Thanks! It was on our Jan 9 sailing. Great service...no issues uploading pics to FB, etc.
Rare WrittenOnYourHeart Posted January 24, 2016 #35 Share Posted January 24, 2016 Thanks for the reports! Just booked the Reflection for 2.18.17 yesterday!! With my booking I opted for pre-paid grats and the Classic Beverage package. I'm cool with that, but out of curiosity, does anyone know if you can upgrade it while onboard? Or would it be a cancellation of one and complete buying of the other?

I just called yesterday to upgrade mine to premium and it totaled just over $80 for 7 nights.

RoryDar Posted January 24, 2016 #38 Share Posted January 24, 2016 we are going on the Reflection Feb 13th. First time on Celebrity and first cruise. We got the all-inclusive package which includes flight, hotel for first night in Miami and all transfers, classis beverage package , gratuities. Was supposed to be non stop from Winnipeg but found out later this was not to be (going thru Minn). but we got a few extra perks. Upgraded drink package, unlimited Wifi and $300.00 onboard credit. Questions are. We know nothing about cruising and we could use some of your expertise. as in can you get (included) drinks in all bars and restaurants? where else can you eat beside the main restaurant? We have a balcony can you take a drink back to your cabin to have it there? Is it cool on the ship when walking outside? If someone is able to private message me that would be wonderful. Also is there any others that are on this same package? Pics in this thread are making us want to go even sooner :) Thanks in Advance Darlene

Your drinks package will be good in all bars, restaurants and even brought to you in the casino or theatre. You can eat for free in the MDR, the buffet up top, the Mast Grill (by pool), at Cafe Al Bacio, in your room on room service. You can get drinks and walk anywhere within reason including your cabin/balcony.

To find others who might be on your package but will surely be on your cruise, go to the roll call section and look for your specific sailing. Yes, you may order drinks at a bar and take them back to your cabin. Your drink package will not work for room service. It also does not cover anything in the minibar. If you're wine drinkers, you may carry on two bottles at embarcation. You may drink these in your room for no charge (steward will provide glasses), but if you take them to a restaurant, there will be a corkage fee. Who knows about the weather on deck? Theoretically it should be warm. But I live in southwest Florida and it's supposed to be warm here and it's not. Bring a sweater or a jacket. Enjoy your first cruise! Iamthesea Posted January 24, 2016 #41 Share Posted January 24, 2016 Lettuce turns your stomach , now that's a first on me. I have problems with lettuce not digesting and causing reflux. My daughter has the same issues as another poster. We both love salads! And I do like iceberg, but rarely eat it anymore. I may try a test with some iceburg and see if I have issues. ;) Oh, and that hamburger in Luminae is a gourmet burger and VERY tasty. Don't judge a burger by its picture. ;) We were told by the Maitre D' in Luminae on Summit that X brings aboard good quality cuts of meat, then grinds them in the Galley to make the burger patties. The cheese on the burgers is cheddar, not American, and there are carmelized onions on top. The French fries are sprinkled with shaved Parmesan cheese. You say "lumpia", I say "spring roll", tomato tomatoe, who cares? The presentation and photos of the food may not look appealing, but it does taste good! :D Edited January 24, 2016 by C-Dragons
Rare C-Dragons Posted January 24, 2016 #43 Share Posted January 24, 2016 Ugly things on the ceiling that don't illuminate. . They're not supposed to. If you watch them, they "twinkle" on and off in a random pattern. Very pretty, especially in the evenings.
guyo Posted January 24, 2016 #44 Share Posted January 24, 2016 Sorry but Brancott is not a premium brand in New Zealand or anywhere, it's consistently good but just everyday. We were on the reflection in the Summer and they had Wairau River onboard which was stunning. Sent from my iPad using Forums mobile app

We were on the reflection in the Summer and they had Wairau River onboard which was stunning. Sent from my iPad using Forums mobile app We've had Wairau River sauvignon blanc on a number of Celebrity cruises and it is my favorite go to wine on board. Did not see Brancott on our last cruise and they did not have Wairau River.
jenniebnyc Posted January 25, 2016 Author #46 Share Posted January 25, 2016 Brancott is brand new on this cruise. As mentioned they have many new wines. Our favorite so far, not sure if new is a Sancerre called les tuiliries.
jenniebnyc Posted January 25, 2016 Author #47 Share Posted January 25, 2016 Dinner last night was fine. I created my own salad again bc there was nothing with lettuce. Yes, thy served me iceberg again even though I asked for mixed greens. I like iceberg so it's fine but they are not getting a Michelin star anytime soon. Full moon the other night! Ice cold apple turnover for breakfast in luminae. Confirmed reheated poached eggs in luminae. They do not make fresh. That the hell? Apps in Michaels club. Artichoke soup for dinner in luminae. Good. Halibut. It was fine. Very plain.
jenniebnyc Posted January 25, 2016 Author #48 Share Posted January 25, 2016 The snow in my neighborhood that I am far away from so having a wonderful time on the ship. Disco in martini bar was hopping last night. Not as loud as last cruise and music was good. Everyone was having fun for sure!
mvaughan Posted January 25, 2016 #49 Share Posted January 25, 2016 So let me get this straight....you pay extra to eat in Luminae and you get re-heated poached eggs???
jenniebnyc Posted January 25, 2016 Author #50 Share Posted January 25, 2016 That's right. They precook and reheat the poached eggs. I was very disappointed to hear this. I definitely voiced my opinion on this.
