Newbcruiser1 Posted January 24, 2016 #1 Share Posted January 24, 2016 Hi all, I read in another review (can't remember which one it was) that you must put your room key in a slot in the room for the electricity (lights and A/C) to run. Can anyone verify this? Would any card with a magnetic strip work? Like an old gift card or the like? Thanks in advance! :)
The_Big_M Posted January 24, 2016 #2 Share Posted January 24, 2016 Yes, like modern hotels they require the card in to operate supplies, so when you leave they automatically turn off. I haven't tried a substitute though would expect them not to work in the same way only current cards will let you in. Also note that all Quantum class ids are chip based rather than stripe based. loudbmw Posted January 24, 2016 #3 Share Posted January 24, 2016 Any card will work. Our room had an old theme park pass in the slot when we arrived, we left it for the next guest.
Rare Turtles06 Posted January 24, 2016 #4 Share Posted January 24, 2016 Yes, any card will work. We always keep some old hotel cards in our travel kit for just this reason. (And we also turn the lights off when we leave the cabin.)
Rare steamboats Posted January 24, 2016 #5 Share Posted January 24, 2016 It´s just a contact needed - so any card works even a paper business card (which we used). steamboats

We left it in for the entire cruise.
Life is Good Cruising Posted January 24, 2016 #8 Share Posted January 24, 2016 Currently on Anthem and we have a business card in the slot. Our Cabin Attendant twice, has lifted the card which disabled the micro switch. Once I realized he did it, I advised him to please leave the card alone and he complied.
