Distance from Celebrity Pier in Honolulu Harbour to Iolani Palace and Waikiki Beach

Hi, we are going to be saîing out of Honolulu on the Solstice in May 2017. The Solstice will overnight, the first night in Honolulu. So, I am wondering: Is it possible to walk from the Pier to Iolani Palace? Realistic and easy or to avoid? Also, how easy is it to get from the Pier to Waikiki Beach and hotels? Walkable? Taxi expensive? The reason of my asking is that Hop on Hop off reviews seen on these boards are not all excellent. We're not really all that interested in the commentary done in these buses, often difficult to hear through speakers in a noisy environment. Your experiences and suggestions will be most welcome! Thanks!

$15 bucks comes to mind for a cab to the port. We were at the Ilikai. So if you're looking to head to the main drag I'd say aim for $20. Not sure about walking to the palace. I did walk easily to Ward Centre. The bus system in Honolulu is excellent

I don't remember the details, but the public bus runs right outside the port, so check the bus routes and schedule.

We were on the Solstice must have been 2 years ago now. We were docked at Pier 2 cruise terminal. We walked to Iolani Palace. Google map said .7 miles walking 14 mins.

We took a shuttle bus out to somewhere, then looked at sights heading back to the ship, including the palace. It was a short walk, like the poster above described.

Walking to Waikiki Beach would be a hike. I would recommend taking a cab or Uber.

Google "The Bus" for route to Beach. 2 dollars.

Walk to Palace.

See if Wal-Mart has shuttle to Ala Moana shopping or any other company. From their a 5 minute walk to Beach.

When we were there in 2012, there was a HOHO trolley that went all over Honolulu. The big drawback for us was that it didn't run very late. I think the last trolley back to the ship was around 5:00 pm -- and our ship didn't depart until much later. You can get more information on this, as well as the City Bus, over on the Ports-of-Call boards. :cool:

You can ride the bus all around the Island. 2 routes. If on Medicare bring your card, its free.Sure routes are online. Fodors and Frommers Hawaii books helpful.
