New O'Sheehans Menu

So why is Cirque, Illusionarium, Rock of Ages, and Legally Blonde still on the big ships?

It seems you aren't aware that Epic is the oldest of the big ships. Logically it would change its entertainment before the other big ships, right? Or do you think Escape should change it's entertainment already? LOL!

I understand your need to pad your list to make your doomsday theory seem more real, but if you read all the posts where you've posted this ad nauseam, you'll notice that most of us see through it.

Just off the Breakaway today and can confirm that the O'Sheehan's menus linked to in the first page of this thread is what they have on BA. It changed the last week of January, a few days before Jan 31. The breakfast menu didn't appear to change at all.

Wings were great - nice to have different flavor options.

Nachos, not so great. Like someone else mentioned they had a cheez whizzy topping instead of real cheese.

Spinach and artichoke dip was unchanged I think.

The Irish Stew was more like soup.

The chopped salad was great and I often had it with the salmon you can have with the Caesar salad.

Other people in my group enjoyed the Caesar salad. I didn't try it.

I don't think any of us tried the burgers.

I had a hot dog and didn't enjoy it but my husband enjoyed his.

Others say the fajitas are really good but they don't come with a plate to assemble them on (ask for one).

I had the shepherds pie and the bangers and mash once each. They were ok but not spectacular. Nobody else in my group tried them.

Fish and chips were great most times and we're a little fussy on that. The fries unfortunately came out cold quite often.

Chipotle chicken sandwich - husband says it was good but not great. He only had it once.

The grilled Reuben was quite good and came with lots (almost too much) of meat.

Open face turkey or roast beef - my family says they were both were very good. (I really liked the potatoes, which you can get an order of on their own at midnight to soak up the alcohol.)

The desserts were all pretty good.

Can you tell we ate there a lot over the 14 days? :)

The brownie with ice cream and chocolate sauce was awesome.

No, those had been around for a year or so. I actually like having the option to purchase less nights, but the other aspects like gratuities and taxes are for the worse.

A year. Still relatively new. Like I said.

So why is Cirque, Illusionarium, Rock of Ages, and Legally Blonde still on the big ships? Why haven't the tired old shows on the Jewel class ships changed?

All the top shows are newer then blue man. Jewel class will change shortly. World beat has been on gem since fall 11. So that's due any month now.

Explain how Disney continues to do fireworks on their cruise ships to this day.

Different line different pov. I don't have facts here just my opinion.

Ask 20 small kids if they know and like Nickelodeon. Now ask the same group of kids how excited they are about the King Foundation taking over. Case closed.

They did perfectly fine without nick and kids still sailed. Only the last few years have ncl decided to start these partnerships with big names. If they keep focused on what they do best they won't need celebrity chefs and tv networks to attract people.

It's the parable of the boiling frog. The premise is that if a frog is placed in boiling water, it will jump out, but if it is placed in cold water that is slowly heated, it will not perceive the danger and will be cooked to death. There's nothing super huge on the list. It's death by a thousand cuts. Eventually people begin to notice the cut corners and begin to wonder why they're paying a premium for substandard amenities and tired old generic

.

Enjoy your cruise in July.

You've spun the logical fallacy wheel and landed on... Non Sequitur

Your attempt at derailing a discussion documenting the changes with NCL as failed, but thanks for playing.

Well said sizzlechest. 19 ncl sailings and they seemed better before nick and these other celebrities joined. Now they can continue to build the ncl brand

Careful, you'll be branded a cheerleader for questioning the things that should not be on his list. We must accept all things negative, no matter what, without question.

Contractual entertainment offerings will change, thank God. Who wants to go see the same show every year, year after year? Evidently he wants us to listen to Bobby Sherman in the lounge like on the 1970's Love Boat ... after all, that's a change.

Thanks so much for the information, and even more so for a post about the actual topic of this thread :D. I am not sure whether your meals at O'Sheehan's were mainly lunches or dinners, but if you were in the MDRs and/or specialties for dinners, do you know how similar those menus are to those posted for Escape? If you or anyone else who has sailed on the Breakaway since 1/31 has seen the Escape menus on here or on BeyondShips, I would greatly appreciate any info you might be able to offer!

If I compare the menus that were on the BA from Jan 31 - Feb 14 to the menus from this page - http://www.beyondships2.com/norwegian-escape-menus.html here are my comments.

We didn't eat in the MDR much. The lunch menu looks similar to the linked menu - a lot of same items but I'm not sure if 100% the same. Same with the classic favourites on the dinner menu.

We didn't go to Manhattan Room at all.

The Cagney's dinner menu is the same. The dessert menu appears to be the same other than I'm not sure about the Praline Dobos Torte. Maybe I just don't remember it because none of us tried it.

La Cucina we only ate at once and I didn't study the menu too closely so I can't really comment on that one. I know some of the items are the same as the linked menu (filet mignon with gorgonzola crust, veal medallions, sea bass) but I'm not sure if it's all the same. Same with the desserts - not sure if they're all the same.

We went to Le Bistro a couple of times and the menu looks the same as the one in the link. They've changed the French Onion soup a bit though - if you had it before and liked how it was super cheesy make sure you ask for extra cheese. The dessert menu is the same as at the link.

Moderno - I remember there were 11 (yes, 11!) types of meat and I recall the list being the same as on the linked page. Our dessert choices were the same as in the linked menu.

I believe the Teppanyaki menu was the same as the linked one and I don't think it changed since the last time we sailed in March 2015.

I did mean to take pictures of all the menus at the restaurant reservation desk in the Atrium but it didn't happen. Sorry. :(

Never had a burger at O'Sheehans on the Breakaway, but had them at Uptown and were real good. By the way could u post yr dailies as my son and his girlfriend will be traveling soon. Thanks in advance.

I was on a 14 day - my dailies would be different than for a 7 day. Is your son doing Florida/Bahamas or Bermuda?

Oh my, thank you so much for all of the information and for responding so quickly! It seems like we can expect the same menus as those posted for Escape, or pretty darn close, at least. Thanks again for taking the time to share all of your specific recollections. I hope you had a great cruise!

An "ostrich" might be better in this case since he likes to stick his proverbial head in the sand.

You just described the entertainment on the Gem that's been going strong for over 5 years.

Nice retort rubberneck... Easily one of the best posts I've seen on here.

You got it liver lips :)

{something that shows once again the message you quoted went miles above your head}

You've repeatedly questioned why the oldest of the big ships would change it's entertainment sooner than the newer of the big ships. Do I need to find a 3 year old to walk you through this?

Regarding derailing, I actually posted my experiences with the new O'Sheehan's menu in this thread. I don't recall you doing that. You posted your list of positives and negatives as if that was somehow responsive to the thread. Nice derail!

By the way, the new menu is really good. So happy they changed it. :D

Just off the Breakaway 14 day also. Hate to confirm it, but the prime ribs are gone. Didn't know about the changes when I went to O' Sheehans looking for the pot pie that so many people had raved about and it was gone, so I ordered the shepards pie- something that I have enjoyed when served other places but unfortunately I really disliked it. One good thing about O'Sheehans - compared to last year on the Breakaway when it was almost always crowded, many days it was less than half full. Guess that that's because of the new menu not being as popular , plus so many people getting specialty restaurant packages when booking. The major thing that I was very unhappy with is that along with the increased prices on beverages , gratuities, day charges, etc so that you couldn't get their cheapest glass of wine for less than $11.74, they have cut back on the number of employees adding to much longer waits at bars and restaurants and room service. Savor and Taste had exceptionally bad experiences for me. On two evenings our table had to wait almost an hour before any food was brought except rolls, and water glasses went unfilled. I left before dessert in order to not miss the 9:00 show even though we were seated by reservation at 6:30. Three hours to complete a meal is the worst service that I have had on any cruise line including Carnival of the almost 40 cruise that I have taken. I know that they kept saying that the reason for the delays were that they were implementing new menus and I hope that they get that straight before mt]y April 10 day Epic Mediterranean cruise. Higher costs and worse service are not sitting well with me. By the way, I did leave a comment card with Prem hoping that my feedback might lead to positive changes rather than just ranting here. I am Platinum on Norwegian and I really like their entertainment and the positive attitude of their crew. But I had to honestly say that some of the changes since last year impacted me negatively this time.

I feel as though the staffing is too light on the mega ships. The jewel class ships seem to have amazing service levels, while breakaway the crew seems very over worked. But I've heard getaway crew has it nailed. Go figure!!!! As a fellow platinum, I really enjoy the Gem and big ships over the mega. Although the mega ships like BA and GA are beautiful, the service experience is always best on the other ships.

Also just off the BA yesterday so I will post my comments on some of the food at O'Sheehan's

Irish Stew - isn't!!! This was not Irish stew and they should be ashamed to call it that, it was cabbage soup! terrible

Spinach dip, runny and gross.

Wings, very good, had them several times.

My DH loved the hot dogs.

My sisters said the burgers were very good, I didn't try them.

Fish and chips, meh

shepards pie, just ok.

Nachos, Horrible!! awful fake gross cheez wiz like substance.

really missed the mozza sticks and chicken fingers.

They really need to send the cooks for O'sheenhan to a real irish pub to see how the food should be.

So you're the one! Kidding, but actually I've not heard much good from the new menu reviews. The only thing I liked was the burger, and it's the same as before. Tried bites of most things.

Ha! I think I was mostly swayed by the wings. I hated the wings previously, and I loved them under the new menu. To be honest, I never liked anything I'd had at O'Sheehan's before the change, so maybe I was just excited to find something I thought was good. We'll see what happens on my next Escape cruise. :p

Any chance the wings are no longer breaded? I didn't really care for them on my previous cruise at Blue Lagoon, willing to give them another shot if they have improved.
