Canada in the Fall

IN terms of weather, I would check the weather forecast a few days before you leave for the cruise because my experience is that weather can change quite a bit from week to week and year to year.

You will likely find that you'll need a combination of some light weight clothing but also items for somewhat cooler weather and you'll want to bring a jacket and another item you could layer underneath it.

We took a cruise to Nova Scotia & Newfoundland at the end of June, very beginning of July. It was so cold I bought a hoody. The last day going back to NY was so cold no one was on the decks, everyone was inside. It was 60' but there was a cold wind.

So just make sure you have warmer clothes than shorts & Ts.

You'll still have a good time!

it is generally the most consistent weather of the year in eastern Canada. We are from Halifax but travel to NFLD and Quebec frequently. As others have said be prepared for anything, even snow in NFLD is not out of the question. Rain/wind gear is essential, and if you are American you can always purchase anything you want as the Canadian loonie is extremely low compared to the green back. Having said that you may get very warm weather as we have enjoyed the last couple of years in the fall. You will have a great time, Signal Hill is Saint John's is a must, old Montreal is great and Quebec City is as beautiful as a lot of cities in Europe.

Old Quebec city is very nice to visit. In Halifax, check out the museumof Canadian immigration, very interesting stuff, and it's right at Pier 21, near where the cruise ships dock. A short distance away is the Maritime museum, a cool Titanic exhibit. For a trip back in time to 1863, take a tour of the Alexander Keith brewery. If you feel like a drive, rent a car (bring a GPS), and go to Peggy's Cove, 45 min away.
