mcchane1 Posted February 28, 2016 #1 Share Posted February 28, 2016 We are planning a cruise for April 2017 to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. It will be my husband and myself and our (technically his) 3 adult children. A little background, the older 2 have a different mom than the youngest, the older 2 lived with their mom and the youngest lived with us since about 1 yr old, so we have never done a family vacation more than a day trip. The will most likely be the only "family" trip we ever take and we want to make it special. All that being said......here are my questions. Is there a recommended limo service that will meet you at the luggage carousel and help with bags and take us to our hotel? (Most likely Embassy Suites)Same question for getting from hotel to the port. I know we can use a cab to get from airport to hotel but since there are 5 of us we will need a van or 2 taxis, it is a doable option I guess. And also I know there is a shuttle from the Embassy Suites to the port and I truly do not want to use that, do not want to be packed in like a sardine. Lastly, on our departure day we most likely will have to take a late afternoon flight home, any suggestions on how to kill about 4-5 hours before heading to the airport? We will us luggage valet service so we will not have bags.
Rare Keith1010 Posted February 28, 2016 #2 Share Posted February 28, 2016 The family cruise sounds wonderful. One option is Larry's Limousine. http://www.larryslimousine.com You could use them for both transfers. Keith
capriccio Posted February 28, 2016 #3 Share Posted February 28, 2016 Van taxis are plentiful in Fort Lauderdale (and cost the same as a sedan) if you decide to go that route. A great way to kill your 4 - 5 hours is a boat ride on the intra-coastal and lunch at one of Fort Lauderdale's many restaurants. There are popular options: The water taxi (http://www.watertaxi.com) - a Hop On/Hop Off boat with narration by the captain. Take it to Las Olas Blvd (http://www.lasolasboulevard.com) for lunch. The Jungle Queen's morning 1 1/2 hour cruise of the intra-coastal and the New River (http://www.junglequeen.com). Go to Coconuts after for lunch. The Carrie B's morning 1 1/2 hour cruise of the intra-coastal and the New River (http://www.carriebcruises.com). Go to one of the many restaurants on Las Olas for lunch. BlueHerons Posted February 28, 2016 #4 Share Posted February 28, 2016 I agree to use Larry's Limo for your transportation and lunch and the water taxi.
mcchane1 Posted February 28, 2016 Author #5 Share Posted February 28, 2016 Thanks for the replies. I think Larry's Limo would be best to get from airport to hotel and hotel to port. Would we take a taxi from the port to the watertaxi and again from watertaxi to airport? I am also seeing Gallery One hotel by Doubletree as an option since it has a 2 bedroom suite, any thoughts on this?

The closest water taxi stop to the port is at the Hilton Marina. Gallery One is nice and the area is very nice.
