First American Table experience, Breeze, 2/21 sailing. The verdict...

We sailed Breeze, knowing she had the American Table and going with an open mind. The verdict...we all loved it!

We sailed with another couple and we chose YTD. Every night we had trouble deciding which items to choose because they all sounded so good. Even though I am a carnivore through and through, every night's fish offering intrigued me. They were all so delicious! I was amazed with what the chef did with simple tilapia. My husband and our friends ordered different meals each night and were also very pleased with their choices.

One thing we did not like was the lack of table cloths. Our glasses left water rings and the condensation caused them to drip on our clothes. The coffee creamer pitchers also left white rings and drops on the table.

Our dining team was fabulous! We requested, and were seated with, the same team every night.

Any Breeze question? Just ask away.

We also just completed a B2B on the Breeze (well we were on Feb 7th, and 13th) so not just completed.

In any case we did not really notice a difference with the American Table as opposed to the traditional.

You still get a menu to choose what you want to eat, the service was impeccable.

The only difference is no table cloth except on formal night.

The no tablecloths thing is kind of trendy, so I don't see the big deal. They really should put napkins under your drinks, though.

I'm glad you liked the food. The menus look really tempting.

My husband and I both found the AT good, no complaints. Yes I miss a few things but the food was good for us. The problem was very slow service in mdr, slower than any of our other 3 cruises. Had YTD and was very slow. Was as slow on last night has it was first night.

We were on the Jan. 30 sailing of the Breeze. First time for the American Table. I have to admit I was all ready to hate it. I didn't! Food was excellent, as was the service for YTD. We were seated quickly each night, service was much better than when we had early seating a year ago. Just wish I hadn't gotten that virus that was going around so I could have sampled the menu every night. I only slightly missed the tablecloths.

I am looking forward to trying my first AT on the Liberty in 2 weeks. I am keeping an open mind. I think Carnival will reverse course and bring back the table cloths. John Heald commented today on the AT and the negative comments regarding the table cloths was 10-1 it seemed.

Ok group, heading back to Carnival 5/22 after a long absence. Someone please explain AT. I read the previous notes, reg food and no cloths. SO, is this something you choose up front or nightly or??

American table is not something you choose. It is Carnival name for their new menu and dining policies and is present in all the dining rooms. They changed the menu from the foods they previously offered and instead of a standard formal setting that they used to place on a table that had a nice clean white tablecloth on it they now have one fork, one knife, a napkin, a bread plate, a water glass, a wine glass, a communal pitcher of water for all to use , a basket of bread without any kind of bread tongs so everyone touches it for the entire table to use , a bottle of wine that is not for drinking but is just for decoration and takes up space on the tiny table , and that's it on a bare table with no table cloth.

DW and I just ate Olive Garden and no tablecloths, although they did have coasters for the drink glasses (the last time we ate at Olive Garden they did have tablecloths).
