cruiseintoheaven Posted March 1, 2016 #1 Share Posted March 1, 2016 Hi everyone! Final payment on our cruise is March 7th - do I need to wait until after to submit request (thought I'd seen that) or am I good to go? My personal fax machine died awhile back and I haven't replaced - but will have access to one the rest of this week. As always - thanks!
victoriaj Posted March 1, 2016 #2 Share Posted March 1, 2016 They only accept your request for shareholders OBC after final payment has been made, they will just send it back and complicate things if you send it before. This happened to me some years ago. Happy Cruising !!!
Nancyquilts Posted March 1, 2016 #3 Share Posted March 1, 2016 We always wait until then. The later we send it in, the more sure Princess is that we won't be selling it before the cruise.
Lovtotravel2 Posted March 2, 2016 #4 Share Posted March 2, 2016 I have never waited till final payment to send it it, the only time I had an issue was when I did it 8 months early, they asked me to do it within 6 months of the cruise. I have done this for the last few years and have never been told to wait till final payment, and to be clear I had not made any more then the deposit when I sent in the request and it was added to my account. hawkeyetlse Posted March 2, 2016 #8 Share Posted March 2, 2016 There is no rule about before or after final payment, they only say that the booking must be under deposit, which almost all bookings are anyway. Don't send it months and months ahead of time, and don't send it too close to the cruise (they say at least 14 days before sailing). Anytime in between should be fine. cruiseintoheaven Posted March 2, 2016 Author #10 Share Posted March 2, 2016 Thanks everyone - based on the feedback I'm thinking I'll just wait a week and then send to be on the safe side - I'm cautious by nature so rather be safe than sorry. I did wait to print off proof of ownership until it was exactly 3 months from departure! Hate to think people fudge on this but not naive either.... joanne2 Posted March 2, 2016 #11 Share Posted March 2, 2016 Also, if you don't have a fax machine, snail mail works just fine. I mailed mine and got the credit in just a few days.

My personal fax machine died awhile back and I haven't replaced - but will have access to one the rest of this week. As always - thanks! Have you tried an online fax service? We don't have a land line or a fax machine, a couple of cruises ago I discovered this web site: http://www.gotfreefax.com/ Never gotten any junk from them. Easy to use. And did I mention it is FREE?!!!

phantomII Posted March 2, 2016 #18 Share Posted March 2, 2016 I had a cruise booked in November for June and the shareholder OBC was approved right away. Probably 6 months in advance and then this time it was turned down because it was beyond the 90 days. It must depend on who is working the day it comes in? hawkeyetlse Posted March 2, 2016 #20 Share Posted March 2, 2016 (edited) You can find the current request form by searching for "Carnival Corporation & PLC Shareholder Benefit Request Form". You don't have to use this form if you prefer to provide the information in some other way, but it contains all the relevant information about the timing of the request: Applications to receive this benefit must be made no later than 14 days prior to the cruise departure date. Shares certificate and brokerage statement should be dated no earlier than 3 months prior to cruise departure date. Of course they may accept a request received outside of this window, at their discretion, but they may also reject it. So why not just wait and send it in at 90-14 days. You can't do anything with your OBC until you are OB, so what's the rush? Edited March 2, 2016 by hawkeyetlse

just_cruising_along Posted March 2, 2016 #23 Share Posted March 2, 2016 You don't have to FAX it, only if you wish to. Carnival says you can provide the information by fax or by mail. I have always sent via snail mail and received credit within a few days. In fact, I received a phone call saying that for some of my future cruises, I needed to wait until the board approved the credit for the upcoming year. Great customer service! I have never waited until final payment, just had put the deposit down. To find out if I have received credit, I ask my TA. I did not see anywhere that the proof had to be valid for three months. On the CCL website it says: The proof includes photocopy of shareholder proxy card, shares certificate, a dividend tax voucher or a current brokerage or nominee statement with your brokerage account number blacked out).
