Major earthquake off Western Indonesia. Amsterdam already in Hong Kong, but thinking of the crew families who had such happy visits and hoping they and the rest of Western Indonesia are safe.

The Volendam is on a 14 day Indonesia Discovery ( Solar eclipse) cruise which started March 1 - visiting Jakarta, Lombok, Surabaya, Probolinggo, Komodo Island, Makassar and Bali. I have several CC friends on the ship (we were to be on the cruise, but scheduled surgical procedure changed that). I hope all is well, everyone safe and this occurrence will not impact their itinerary plans. Thoughts and prayers to those in the affected areas, and to crew members who have family and friends impacted by the quake.

 

If anyone hears any news, could you please post it here?

The Volendam is on a 16 day Indonesia Discovery ( Solar eclipse) cruise which started March 1 - visiting Jakarta, Lombok, Surabaya, Probolinggo, Komodo Island, Makassar and Bali. The Rotterdam is also in the area. Surabaya was their final Indonesian port.

According to fleet locations for today Volendam is enroute from Singapore, to Jakarta and Rotterdam is enroute to Singapore from Surabaya. Both Surabaya and Jakarta are on Java. The earthquake was west of Java

Hoping for the best case scenario re: loss of life, damage, etc.

 

Also, since it's pretty much ALL there right now, hoping 75% of the HAL R-Class is okay
